The Review of Veterans’ Care Needs is an important policy and research body, established in 1996, that supports the Department's efforts to design programs and services that are driven by client need rather than program requirements, improving our ability to make evidence-based decisions. Through a series of research tools, including a literature review, focus groups with clients, their care givers and a number of health providers, and analysis of health services offered by the community and other levels of government in each province, our Review of Veterans’ Care Needs project team has been able to identify changes in the needs of aging veterans, gaps in benefits and services and VAC can best add value to their care. 1, record 43, English, - Review%20of%20Veterans%26rsquo%3B%20Care%20Needs

It used to be enough just to make a fairly decent product and market it. Not anymore. In the ’90's, you’ve got to have a Corporate Soul. The consumer will want to know who you are before buying what you sell... Who you are will mean publicly stating your environmental policy, your stance on health care and child care, how(or if) you deal with an Apartheid country, what other brands you have or other names you market under. 1, record 61, English, - corporate%20soul

Preferred Provider Organizations(PPOs) offer purchasers of care several benefits, including expenditure reduction, utilization control, improved quality of care, and efficient management. Although Medicare could benefit from these outcomes, the program lags behind the private sector in PPO development. The Health Care Financing Administration(HCFA) must address several policy issues and constraints as it develops PPOs for Medicare beneficiaries. The agency must identify services and providers to include in the PPO, develop program sponsorship and administration methods, create viable provider and beneficiary incentives to participate, identify sources of PPO cost savings, and examine the role of medigap insurance policies in PPO development. 2, record 62, English, - preferred%20provider%20organization
