SkyWorks Charitable Foundation was established in 1983 as a non-profit documentary organization dealing with contemporary social issues. The process of creating the films and the subsequent dissemination is a community development effort, working with local, regional, and national groups, to create strategies for social change. [SkyWorks focuses] on documentary and community development projects in four program areas : working with children and families as a force for social change; promoting recovery by challenging stereotypes and systemic barriers with people experiencing mental health issues; informing and supporting community engagement in health care policies and practices [and] documenting barriers and exploring alternative approaches to accessing justice, preventing discrimination and ensuring fairness within the various legal systems... that structure the lives of persons belonging to particular marginalized communities. 1, record 11, English, - SkyWorks%20Charitable%20Foundation

The proposed primary goal of CHRIMCY are to initiate, support and disseminate excellence in peer-reviewed research encompassing the critical stages of life, including preconception, pregnancy, fetal and newborn development, and growth and development throughout childhood and adolescence. These primary goals define the nature of research that would be supported by the proposed institute, and clearly distinguish this institute from others that may form within the CIHR. Research would be conducted in the fields of basic biomedical science, clinical and applied health, health services and health care systems, and population health, with a particular focus on the determinants of health. The proposed main objectives of CHRIMCY is to reinforce individual investigator initiatives by aiding in the formation of networks of research teams that would cross disciplines, institutions, regions and the country. This includes providing mechanisms for researchers to work across the institutes of the CIHR. CHRIMCY would have the unique mandate and framework to identify reserach themes and to harness reserach expertise cross the country, and to focus on priority issues affecting the health of mothers, children and youth. 3, record 34, English, - Canadian%20Health%20Research%20Institute%20for%20Mother%2C%20Child%20and%20Youth

The formation of the Newfoundland and Labrador Health Record Association can be credited to the initial work of the Central Newfoundland Regional Medical Records Committee established in 1977. Challenged with the purpose of discussing issues of common concern, this committee grew in size and scope to become a forum for mutual problem solving and education advancement. Initial topics discussed at the Central Newfoundland Regional Medical Records Committee include patient care plans, medical audit programs, and family profiles. From the success of these meetings, it was proposed that a provincial association be established. 1, record 35, English, - Newfoundland%20and%20Labrador%20Health%20Record%20Association

Preferred Provider Organizations(PPOs) offer purchasers of care several benefits, including expenditure reduction, utilization control, improved quality of care, and efficient management. Although Medicare could benefit from these outcomes, the program lags behind the private sector in PPO development. The Health Care Financing Administration(HCFA) must address several policy issues and constraints as it develops PPOs for Medicare beneficiaries. The agency must identify services and providers to include in the PPO, develop program sponsorship and administration methods, create viable provider and beneficiary incentives to participate, identify sources of PPO cost savings, and examine the role of medigap insurance policies in PPO development. 2, record 51, English, - preferred%20provider%20organization
