The name of the Association shall be the Ottawa Valley Health Libraries Association/l'Association des Bibliothèques de la Santé de la Vallée de l'Outaouais. The purpose of the Ottawa Valley Health Libraries Association shall be to promote, by means of cooperation and communication, the provision of quality library services in the health sciences throughout the Ottawa Valley. The Association shall also support the activities of the Canadian Health Libraries Association, as a Chapter of that body, and the Ontario Hospital Libraries Association, and share information with the library community as a whole.

For a fourth consecutive year, the Communauté urbaine de Montréal(CUM), or the Montreal Urban Community, the Direction de santé publique de Montréal-Centre(public health board), the ministère de l'Environnement et de la Faune du Québec(MEF), and Environment Canada are jointly launching the 1997 Info-Smog Campaign. This forecasting and information campaign is aimed at informing the general public of the concrete gestures it may make to reduce the emission of pollutants that can seriously affect the quality of the air we breathe. The campaign will be on from May 20 to September 30 of this year in the greater Montreal area.
