Certain drugs are frequently requested through the SAP [Special Access Program] and the EDR [Emergency Drug Release] program. Manufacturers are aware that certain drugs they produce are frequently requested and used in the Canadian health care system. To account for this, and to reduce the length of time it takes to get a drug from a manufacturer to a practitioner for patient use, foreign manufacturers currently export an unauthorized drug into Canada to be placed in a Canadian affiliate's facility in anticipation of a request for it by a practitioner and the authorization by the SAP or the EDR program(referred to as "pre-positioning"). 3, record 3, English, - pre%2Dpositioning

Telemedicine consultations are primarily classified according to the type of interaction that takes place between the patient and the health practitioner. "Synchronous telemedicine"(also called real-time telemedicine) refers to real-time interaction between the sender and the receiver of the data. The Dental Division's efforts include the delivery and/or management of a broad range of oral health activities including proactive disease prevention, oral health promotion and dental treatment services provided by regional dental therapists and other First Nations and Inuit Health Branch(FNIHB) staff, as well as the staff of many First Nations. The key focus areas for the Dental Division are : Supporting the regional delivery of the dental therapy program; Managing the contract for the delivery of the National School of Dental Therapy(NSDT) training program by the First Nations University of Canada. Currently, 106 dental therapists from NSDT work either directly for First Nations and Inuit Health Branch(FNIHB) or directly for First Nations or territorial governments in the Regions and Territories and serve approximately 170 First Nations and Inuit communities. They are the key providers for FNIHB oral health initiatives. In addition to the services provided by dental therapists, Health Canada also pays for dental practitioner services for specified clinical services in First Nations and Inuit communities. There must be a clear definition of the community served by a particular practitioner, agency or IHS in order to plan and fund services based on a capitation model. The patient roster identifies the patients served and paid for in a particular practice. Rostering, which is often referred to as enrollment or registration, can be organized in a number of ways, including geography, affinity groups and disease groups. Enrollment is generally voluntary. When the patient rosters, he/she is guaranteed a certain package of services. In return, the patient is committed to receiving his or her services within the practice, agency or IHS to which he or she is rostered.
