... the WHO [World Health Organization] declaration of the social accountability of medical schools [was authored] in 1995 [and] remains the standard used by most schools. Social accountability has been defined as :"The obligation to direct [the school' s] education, research and service activities towards addressing the priority health concerns of the community, region, and/or nation they have a mandate to serve. The priority health concerns are to be identified jointly by governments, health care organizations, health professionals and the public. " 2, record 1, English, - social%20accountability

Multimorbidity, which is defined as the co-occurrence of two or more chronic conditions, has moved onto the priority agenda for many health policymakers and healthcare providers. 2, record 2, English, - multimorbidity
Record number: 2, Textual support number: 2 CONT
The concept of comorbidity is more useful in secondary and tertiary care settings, which have traditionally been structured around diseases or body systems, while the concept of multimorbidity is more useful in a primary care or other generalist setting, which can easily change focus according to patients’ priorities. For example, a patient with diagnosed chronic kidney disease, type 2 diabetes and hypertension, when seeing their nephrologist is considered by the specialist to have chronic kidney disease with comorbidities of type 2 diabetes and hypertension. When seeing their endocrinologist, they are considered to have type 2 diabetes with comorbid chronic kidney disease and hypertension. However, a primary care physician or other generalist such as a geriatrician would view the patient as having multimorbidity as they provide holistic care that is not determined by the presence of any specific condition and focuses on the patient’s presenting symptoms, preferences and priorities for their healthcare. 3, record 2, English, - multimorbidity

Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 CONT
3, record 2, French, - multimorbidit%C3%A9

A non-visible disability is a disability or health condition that is not immediately obvious. It can defy stereotypes of what people might think disabled people look like.... Some "non-visible" conditions are visible or obvious sometimes. Also, they can be "seen" by some people who might have a better understanding of the condition. But they are not usually visible to others.... some people with non-visible disabilities might have a "dynamic disability. "This means that sometimes they might use a mobility aid, but other times they might not need it. Likewise, sometimes they might need to use a priority seat on busy public transport. Other times they may not feel they need to. 5, record 7, English, - non%2Dapparent%20disability

Vaccine-preventable diseases(VPDs) are diseases caused by bacteria and viruses that can be prevented by vaccines. VPDs can spread through different routes such as the air, respiratory droplets, and bodily contact. Some diseases, such as measles, are extremely contagious.... Many of the diseases prevented by vaccines have dramatically declined since the introduction of vaccination programs. However, awareness of VPDs continues to be a priority so that members of the public and health professionals understand why it is important to keep vaccinating against those diseases. The proposed primary goal of CHRIMCY are to initiate, support and disseminate excellence in peer-reviewed research encompassing the critical stages of life, including preconception, pregnancy, fetal and newborn development, and growth and development throughout childhood and adolescence. These primary goals define the nature of research that would be supported by the proposed institute, and clearly distinguish this institute from others that may form within the CIHR. Research would be conducted in the fields of basic biomedical science, clinical and applied health, health services and health care systems, and population health, with a particular focus on the determinants of health. The proposed main objectives of CHRIMCY is to reinforce individual investigator initiatives by aiding in the formation of networks of research teams that would cross disciplines, institutions, regions and the country. This includes providing mechanisms for researchers to work across the institutes of the CIHR. CHRIMCY would have the unique mandate and framework to identify reserach themes and to harness reserach expertise cross the country, and to focus on priority issues affecting the health of mothers, children and youth. 3, record 46, English, - Canadian%20Health%20Research%20Institute%20for%20Mother%2C%20Child%20and%20Youth
