Initial symptoms of streptococcal toxic shock syndrome(STSS) are usually flu-like and may include fever, chills, malaise, vomiting, nausea, and muscle aches. Approximately 24-48 hours after symptom onset, an infected individual' s blood pressure can drop with symptoms progressing to sepsis with hypotension(low blood pressure), tachycardia(faster than normal heart rate), tachypnea(rapid breathing), and organ failure. 5, record 1, English, - streptococcal%20toxic%20shock%20syndrome

4, record 1, French, - syndrome%20de%20choc%20toxique%20streptococcique

Record number: 2, Textual support number: 2 CONT
Body roundness index(BRI) might be a more accurate measurement than body mass index(BMI) for predicting weight-related health risks... BMI has long been the standard to classify a person's body weight as too low, normal, overweight, or obese. While BMI often reflects a person's body fat amount, it doesn’t account for fat distribution or the amount of muscle mass.... BRI addresses these shortcomings by focusing on a person's height, waist size, and hip size. By taking weight out of the equation, BRI provides a better indicator of how much belly fat(visceral fat) surrounds the organs inside the abdomen. High amounts of belly fat are linked to high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, and some cancers. 3, record 2, English, - body%20roundness%20index

As the name suggests, a multiple-compartment PK [pharmacokinetic] model consists of a central compartment and one or several peripheral compartments, though the compartments do not represent specific anatomical or physiological structures. In general, the central compartment represents plasma(or blood) with or without richly perfused tissues, such as heart, liver, brain, etc.,... and the peripheral compartments represent slowly or less perfused tissues, such as skin, muscle, bone and fat.... In a two-compartment model... upon administration, a substance is introduced into the central compartment that is followed by its distribution between the central and a peripheral compartment; however, equilibration of the concentration of the substance between the two compartments is not anticipated to be achieved instantaneously. Once equilibration is reached, the elimination of the substance is assumed to occur from the central compartment. 4, record 7, English, - two%2Dcompartment%20pharmacokinetic%20model

Ach receptors at these sites and the effects of parasympathetic stimulation at these sites are termed "muscarinic. With the information gained from the EMC model we began to look for other viruses that might induce diabetes in mice, particularly those viruses that also infect human beings. One likely candidate was the Coxsackie family of viruses... these viruses have RNA as their genetic material. They can cause upper-respiratory distress and muscle pain and can infect the heart and brain. Soon after the discovery of the Coxsackie viruses Gilbert Dalldorf... and A. M. Pappenheimer... found that infection of mice with members of the virus group designated Coxsackie B caused severe destruction of the acinar cells in the pancreas but spared the adjoining islet of Langerhans. 3, record 21, English, - Coxsackie%20B%20virus

1, record 21, French, - virus%20Coxsackie%20B

The receptors have a widespread tissue distribution and are a major drug target in human disease. Restrictive cardiomyopathy(RCM) is a rare form of heart muscle disease that is characterized by restrictive filling of the ventricles. In this disease the contractile function(squeeze) of the heart and wall thicknesses are usually normal, but the relaxation or filling phase of the heart is very abnormal. This occurs because the heart muscle is stiff and poorly compliant and does not allow the ventricular chambers to fill with blood normally. This inability to relax and fill with blood results in a “back up” of blood into the atria(top chambers of the heart), lungs and body causing the symptoms and signs of heart failure. 2, record 27, English, - restrictive%20cardiomyopathy

Differentiation is the process by which an unspecialized cell becomes specialized into one of the many cells that make up the body, such as a heart, liver, or muscle cell. During differentiation, certain genes are turned on, or become activated, while other genes are switched off, or inactivated. This process is intricately regulated. Coronary stents. Stents are used in coronary ’revascularization’ or ’angioplasty’ procedures. These procedures are sometimes referred to as PCI [or] percutaneous coronary interventions.... Stents are stainless steel or nytinol mesh like devices that look similar to the spring in a pen. [They] are delivered into the coronary artery on a catheter during a PCI procedure. They are then "deployed" in the artery by either expansion by a balloon or by a unique "self-expanding" delivery design. They serve as a scaffold to prop the inside of the artery(the lumen) open which increases blood flow to the heart muscle. 1, record 45, English, - coronary%20stent

The most commonly used glycosides acting on the heart are obtained from the leaves of Digitalis purpurea and lanata, from the seeds of Strophantus kombé and gratus, and also from the squill. Cardiac glycosides act by raising the concentration of calcium ions available intracellularly for electromechanical coupling. A secondary novel technology to which the Company has exclusive rights is that of antibody-targeted liposomes. This technology involves the incorporation of an antimyosin antibody into liposome membranes that serves to target the immunoliposome to cytoskeletal protein exposed by cellular membrane lesions. Upon anchoring the liposome to the cell via the antibody the liposome presumably fuses with the cell membrane and repairs the lesion. In vitro and animal model studies have shown that this methodology has been able to preserve cell and tissue viability under anoxic/ischemic conditions. This technology may be able to limit the extent of heart muscle damage during heart attacks and myocarditis. 1, record 56, English, - immunoliposome

Inducible NO-synthase in skeletal muscle. The expression and localization of inducible nitric oxide(NO) synthase(NOS II) was evaluated as a source of NO which has been shown to affect muscle contraction. Advanced stages of chronic heart failure are associated with systemic activation of cytokines which have been shown to stimulate the expression of NOS II in various cell types, including myocytes. We hypothesized that systemic cytokine activation could lead to expression of NOS II in skeletal muscle of patients with chronic heart failure. 2, record 58, English, - NO%20synthase
