Throughout the world, the basic oxygen furnace(BOF) produces more steel than any other process, and it is the primary steel production method in the United States. While the basic oxygen furnace is an improvement over the earlier open hearth and Bessemer processes, the vessel for converting pig iron into steel in a basic oxygen furnace is similar in design to its predecessor, the Bessemer converter. There is no heat source associated with the converter; it relies on the exothermic reaction between iron and oxygen. Therefore, a basic oxygen converter is not a furnace. However, there are some vessels that may use an additional hydrocarbon heat source. 2, record 24, English, - basic%20oxygen%20furnace

Villermaux(1982) performed a systematic study of gas and solid reactions which can also be used to categorize the pyrolysis process.... To sum up :(1) Liquid is best produced using a transported bed reactor with low temperature, high heating rate, and short residence time.(2) Charcoal is produced by use of stacking kilns, multiple hearth kilns, rotary kilns with low temperature and heating rate, and long residence time.(3) Gas is produced by means of fluidized bed, circulating bed and even cyclone reactors, with high temperature and heating rate. 1, record 30, English, - cyclone%20reactor

3, record 30, French, - r%C3%A9acteur%20cyclone

Rotary Wall-Flame Burner. The rotary wall-flame burner breaks the oil into particles by means of tubes on a rotating distributor. The air for combustion is provided by a blower. Combustion takes place when the fuel and air reach a flame ring where the igniter is located. The distributor is set on a vertical motor shaft, which turns the distributor to spread the atomized fuel evenly around the flame ring, which encircles the hearth at its extremities. 3, record 80, English, - wall%2Dflame%20vertical%20rotary%20burner

Ovens can, of course, be hand loaded with pans or straps. This arduous task is accomplished by mechanical means in nearly all large volume shops, however. The principle of operation of loading devices is relatively simple. Pans move over roller conveyors form the final steam proofer to a point in front of the relatively oven loading door. Their momentum carries them onto a series of rollers at right angles to the previous conveyor and parallel to the oven door. When a series of pans the width of the tray or hearth has collected, they are pushed into the oven. A retractable metal bar prevents additional pans from coming onto the loading platform while the pusher bar is operating. 1, record 92, English, - loading%20device
