Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Graphitization is also used for the transformation of metastable diamond into graphite by heat treatment, as well as in metallurgy for the formation of graphite from thermodynamically unstable carbides by thermal decomposition at high temperatures. Such uses of the term graphitization are in line with the above definition. The use of the term graphitization to indicate a process of thermal treatment of carbon materials at T > 2500 K regardless of any resultant crystallinity is incorrect. 5, record 1, English, - graphitization

Pyrolysis, also termed thermolysis (Greek: pur = fire; thermos = warm; luo = loosen), is a process of chemical and thermal decomposition, generally leading to smaller molecules. Semantically, the term thermolysis is more appropriate than pyrolysis, since fire implies the presence of oxygen and hence of reactive and oxygen-bearing intermediates. In most pyrolysis processes, however, air is excluded, for reasons of safety, product quality, and yield. 3, record 5, English, - thermolysis

Description applied to a material that absorbs heat(while part of it is being consumed by heat) through a decomposition process known as pyrolysis, which takes place in the near surface layer exposed to heat. This mechanism essentially provides thermal protection of the subsurface materials and components by sacrificing the surface layer. 2, record 11, English, - ablative%20plastic

To prevent pollution of the public water supply, the disposal of spent sulfite liquor into rivers is, in many cases, forbidden. The only solution possible is to evaporate it or even to dry it out completely.... The back-pressure process is notable for its great heat economy, but it makes necessary the profitable utilization of the back-pressure steam.... Because of the high temperatures during the evaporation process, thermal decomposition of the liquor may occur.... The thermal compression method is especially advantageous when cheap power is available. The steam formed during the evaporation is compressed and passed along the outer wall of the evaporator where it is condensed and its latent heat transferred to the boiling liquor. 1, record 14, English, - back%2Dpressure%20process

back pressure evaporator: A type of evaporator used to concentrate pulp mill wash liquors and operate with all effects or units under pressure, with low-pressure steam leaving the last effect. It gives best economy in cases where there is a steady use for low-pressure steam, and is commonly used to concentrate bisulfite liquors. 2, record 14, English, - back%2Dpressure%20process
