For example, if a thermometer reads 35 degrees Fahrenheit outside and the wind is blowing at 25 miles per hour(mph), the windchill factor causes it to feel like it is 8 degrees F. [Le] facteur de refroidissement éolien [...] est calculé en combinant la température de l'air à la vélocité des vents.

Moisture in the atmosphere plays a greater role in weather and climate than any of the other constituents of the air. It is so significant that it is commonly considered separately from the remainder of the air by meteorologists. In one or more of its forms atmospheric moisture is a factor in cloudiness, visibility, precipitation, and humidity. By virtue of its ability to hold latent heat in its vapor and liquid forms, water is an important medium for the transfer of energy. 9, record 6, English, - atmospheric%20moisture

Although heat is also a factor in the deterioration of asphalt on a roof, the real source of decay is the energy carried by the ultra-violet(UV) light of the sun, combined with the ready supply of oxygen in ozone. The "links" in asphalt molecular chains are hydrogen. The molecular bond is overcome by the strong attraction of the oxygen, which pulls the hydrogen away from the asphalt molecules. This process is called photo-oxidation, and these breaks in the "aliphatic" chain results in the shrinkage cracking common to asphalt. This phenomenon is commonly called "alligatoring" in roofing parlance, a term which describes the similarity of aged asphalt surfaces to an alligator's back. 3, record 9, English, - alligatoring

Hot rock circulating system. If, and when, power can be extracted from artificially fractured rocks by circulating water through the fissures, it will be possible to adjust the rate of circulation so as to match the heat supply to the pattern of demand, at any load factor, without introducing problems of bore instability or of fluid wastage at off-peak times. 1, record 24, English, - hot%20rock%20circulating%20system

Given the factors of degree days, conductance and air change, it is possible to estimate the winter heat loss for a building. The U value per unit area of the enclosure component, multiplied by the area of each component, multiplied by the area of each component and then summed for all components becomes the total building conductance factor. When the total loss through air change is added, the resulting figure is the complete building heat loss factor(b). 1, record 27, English, - complete%20heat%20loss%20factor

There are a number of performance factors that determine how well your heating system is able to supply heat to your home. For all non-electric heating systems there are two basic approaches to defining efficient performance. Both measure the percentage of heat available in a fuel that is actually delivered as heat to the house. Steady state efficiency is a performance factor that is easily measured over a short period of time. It indicates the performance of a system that has been running long enough to allow all furnace components to reach their normal operating temperatures... 1, record 29, French, - %C3%A9quivalent%20calorifique
