Pallet Shrink Wrapping Machines.-Pallet shrink wrapping involves wrapping the pallet in an over sized film and then shrinking by applying heat. The shrunk film so tightens around the pallet that it gives it maximum stability during the transport. The shrunk thermoplastic film also provides protection against moisture and dust during storage. These machines are as per the customer requirement in terms of the size of the pallet or product, speed and automation. Shrink hood applicator wraps the load in thermoplastic film in a reel. The film is first sealed at one end and laid open on the pallet.

Gas-fired water heaters have a gas burner located below the tank, a thermostatic switch, a gas valve and a pilot light. The thermostat will open the gas valve when it senses the water temperature at the bottom of the tank has dropped below the present limit. Gas flows to the burner and is ignited by the pilot light, heating the tank from below. In addition, the hot exhaust gases are vented through a hollow core in the center of the tank to help heat the water. The exhaust is then passed into the draft hood and to the vent connector where it is discharged to a chimney flue.

Warm air furnaces are of two types, gravity and forced air. Forced warm air furnaces use a motor-driven blower to circulate air over the heat exchanger and through the ducts. A draft hood is attached to the outlet of the furnace and replaces the barometric damper.

Forced-warm-air furnaces are most commonly fired by LP gas, natural gas or oil and occasionally by wood and coal. They may also operate electrically.

Fournaise : Ce terme est considéré comme impropre par les puristes. Selon Dagenais, dans son "Dictionnaire des difficultés de la langue française au Canada", "fournaise" serait un calque de l'anglais "furnace" et nous devrions plutôt dire "chaudière" lorsque le fluide caloporteur est l'eau ou la vapeur et "générateur d'air chaud", lorsque le fluide, est l'air. Cependant, ce terme reste d'usage fréquent au Québec, autant en langue parlée qu'en langue écrite.
