... hot-wire anemometry... uses a small, electrically heated wire exposed to a flow for the purpose of measuring a flow property. The flow property to be measured is usually the flow velocity. The hot-wire probe consists of a thin wire with prongs to support the wire.... the wire is heated by a current that passes through it. The heat transfer coefficient between the thin heated wire and the surrounding fluid medium changes as the change of the properties of [a] moving fluid. Thus, the flow property is obtained from the change of [the] heat transfer coefficient of the wire. 2, record 1, English, - hot%20wire%20anemometry

Anémométrie à fils chauds. [...] 1, record 1, French, - an%C3%A9mom%C3%A9trie%20%C3%A0%20fil%20chaud

Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Moisture in the atmosphere plays a greater role in weather and climate than any of the other constituents of the air. It is so significant that it is commonly considered separately from the remainder of the air by meteorologists. In one or more of its forms atmospheric moisture is a factor in cloudiness, visibility, precipitation, and humidity. By virtue of its ability to hold latent heat in its vapor and liquid forms, water is an important medium for the transfer of energy. 9, record 3, English, - atmospheric%20moisture

The term "Refractance Window" relates to the dryer's principle of operation. Water transmits infrared energy through conduction and evaporation but little radiation. If the water's surface is covered by a transparent medium such as plastic, evaporation and its associated heat loss is blocked and only conduction occurs. But when a moisture-laden material is placed on the plastic surface, a "window" for passage of infrared energy is created at the point where the material contacts the plastic where the plastic bears on the water. Therefore, all three methods of heat transfer, radiation, conduction and convection occur for exceptionally effective heat transfer. As the material dries, however, the infrared "window" is closed since moisture no longer contacts the plastic, and the only heat transfer taking place is by conduction. 1, record 16, English, - refractance%20window%20drying

Convection. Process of heat [(transfer of heat) ] carried from one point to another by movement of a liquid or a gas(i. e., air). Natural convection is caused by expansion of the liquid or gas when heated. Expansion reduces the density of the medium, causing it to rise above the cooler, more dense portions of the medium. Gravity heating systems are examples of the profitable use of natural convection. The air, heated by the furnace, becomes less dense(consequently lighter) and rises, distributing heat to the various areas of the house without any type of blower. When a blower is used, the heat transfer method is called "forced convection. " 5, record 17, English, - natural%20convection
