English

Subject field(s)
  • Rugby
CONT

[In rugby, ] there are three kinds of kick : the punt, the drop and the place kick.... For a place kick the ball is placed on the ground, usually in, or on, a small hole made by the heel of the kicker's boot. The ball may be tilted in any direction to suit the kicker. Such a kick may be used for conversion of tries, for kicking penalty goals and for a kick after a mark has been made. It is obligatory to start the game with a place kick, to resume it after half-time and to restart after a try has been converted.

OBS

Distinguish from the "place kick" worth 3 points in football.

CONT

Subject field(s)
  • Sports Equipment and Accessories
DEF

Attachment point of the binding to the snowshoe; it pivots on a metal rod so that the snowshoe tail drags or tracks behind as you walk.

CONT

A rotating toe cord helps to deliver maximum crampon penetration and minimize fatigue in powder or packed snow conditions and the recreational crampon system is located under the ball of the foot and heel for secure traction throughout the entire stride.

CONT

Independent research proves that the Rotating Toe Cord is the most efficient pivot system available, which means over a long trek you will expend less energy to traverse the same distance than you would using a pivot system without full rotation.

CONT

Your snowshoes have a rotating toe cord (sometimes called the pivot rod) that allows a 90 degree [rotation.]

Key term(s)
  • pivot bar

French

Domaine(s)

DEF
