Optical sensor located on the lower part of the vehicle body or on the suspension axles, measuring body height relative to the ground.

Vehicle trim height is noted by height sensors. They are used to note changes in the load on the vehicle and allow the suspension to compensate for it, maintaining the ideal body height. In addition to noting load changes within the vehicle and compensating for them, some height sensors are used to inform the suspension module of road ondulations (such as railroad tracks). In addition to vehicle height, the module requires input signals to indicate which part of the vehicle needs a height correction. One sensor, located in the front of the rear axle detects load changes in the luggage compartment and passenger rear seats. The remaining two sensors are positioned at each front wheel to detect driver and passenger seat loads.

OBS

An additional height sensor may be located in the wheel arch, measuring body height, but this time relative to the wheel, playing the role of a body displacement sensor.

La hauteur de suspension est mesurée par les capteurs de hauteur. En plus de mesurer les variations de charge du véhicule et de permettre à la suspension de les compenser, certains capteurs de hauteur informent le module de commande des irrégularités de la route (comme c'est le cas lorsque la voiture traverse un passage à niveau). En plus de la hauteur du véhicule, le module exige d'autres signaux pour lui indiquer quelle partie de la voiture exige une correction de hauteur. Un capteur, situé en avant de l'essieu arrière, mesure les variations de charge dans le coffre et au niveau des sièges arrière. Les deux autres capteurs sont situés au niveau de chaque roue avant, pour mesurer la charge supportée par le siège du conducteur et le siège du passager.

OBS

On peut aussi trouver un capteur de hauteur supplémentaire dans le passage de roue, mesurant la hauteur de la caisse, mais par rapport à la roue cette fois, jouant ainsi le rôle d'un capteur de débattement de caisse.

The driving of a narrow roadway results in the development of a pressure arch over the excavation. The strata within the arch bend slightly and cease to support the overlying beds, and the load is transferred to the solid coal or rock along the sides. The wider the roadway, the greater is the span of the arch and its height at the crown. A similar but larger pressure arch is formed across a longwall face, with one leg resting on the solid coal and the other on the solid pack behind the coal face.
