CONT

Stand with feet slightly wider than hip width apart and toes pointing out slightly. Squat down and grasp bar with a closed, pronated grip.... First pull phase :lift bar from floor by forcefully extending hips and knees.... Keep elbows fully extended(straight), head in a neutral position and shoulders over the bar. As bar raises, keep it as close to shins as possible. Transition(scoop) phase : as bar passes knees, thrust hips forward and slightly re-flex knees to avoid locking them.... Second pull phase : Forcefully and quickly extend hips and knees and plantar-flex ankles(stand on toes). Keep bar as close to body as possible.... Keep shoulders over bar and elbows extended(arms straight) as long as possible. When lower body joints reach full extension, rapidly shrug the shoulders upward, but do not let elbows flex yet. As shoulders reach their highest elevation, flex elbows to begin pulling body under bar. Continue to pull arms as high and as long as possible.... feet may lose contact with floor. Catch phase : after lower body has fully extended and bar reaches near maximal height, pull body under bar and rotate arms around and under bar. Simultaneously, hips and knees flex into a quarter squat position. Once arms are under bar, lift elbows to position the upper arms parallel to floor. Rack the bar across front of clavicles(collar bones) and anterior deltoids(front shoulder muscles).... Stand up by extending hips and knees to a fully erect position. Downward movement phase : lower bar by gradually reducing muscular tension of arms to allow a controlled descent of the bar to the thighs.... Squat down with the elbows fully extended until the bar touches the floor.

DEF

... the height to which the forks can lift without elevating the mast.

CONT

[Fork Truck Construction.] An important operational aspect of mast assemblies is freelift. Freelift is defined as the vertical distance forks can raise above the floor before the mast begins to extend from its collapsed height.

CONT

[Lift trucks.] "Free lift" is the amount of movement the carriage can make before the cylinder yoke starts lifting the mast. A standard upright usually has just enough free lift to raise the load off the floor so the truck can go through a doorway without the top of the mast striking the door.

OBS

The amount of freelift available is dependent on the mast and truck design. Freelift may range from only a few inches on some models to over 60 in. (1500 mm) on the man-up turret truck. Most manufacturers offer trucks with either standard or "high" freelift available.

OBS

free lift: term standardized by ISO.

OBS

CONT

OBS

levée libre : terme normalisé par l'ISO.

CONT

A typical multi-head breaker is a rubber-tired, self-propelled unit which carries 1, 000 to 1, 500 pound hammers mounted laterally in pairs. Half of the hammers are in a forward row and the remainder diagonally offset in a rear row so that there is continuous breakage from side to side. Each pair of hammers is attached to a hydraulic lift cylinder which operates as an independent unit. Each unit can develop between 1, 000 and 8, 000 foot pounds of energy depending upon drop height selected. The units can cycle at a rate of 30 to 35 impacts per minute. The typical machine is eight foot wide and carries twelve hammers eight inches in width. An extension wing, carrying two 1, 500 pound hammers, can be added to each side for a total breaking width of up to 13 feet. Pavement breaking can be as narrow as 2. 67 feet or increased in increments up to 13 feet. Typical production rates per machine are 6000-8000 square yards per day.

Excellent all-round visibility with the front-loading truck saves time and money... These trucks are ideally suited to manoeuvring in confined areas and positioning heavy loads at height(lift heights up to 7. 5 m). There is a reduced risk of damaging goods or racks with this truck, as the driver can see up to 17% more of the forks... This is achieved through the cab-forward design, a sculpted low-profile cowling and a narrow, offset steering column. The enhanced visibility simplifies pallet entry as the driver does not have to bend forward.

CONT

A drill press is preferable to a hand drill when the location and orientation of the hole must be controlled accurately. A drill press is composed of a base that supports a column, the column in turn supports a table. Work can be supported on the table with a vise or hold down clamps, or the table can be swiveled out of the way to allow tall work to be supported directly on the base. Height of the table can be adjusted with a table lift crank than locked in place with a table lock. The column also supports a head containing a motro. The motor turns the spindle at a speed controlled by a variable speed control dial. The spindle holds a drill chuck to hold the cutting tools(drill bits, center drills, deburring tools, etc.). The mast assembly of the fork truck consists of a steel upright assembly and hydraulic cylinders to provide the lifting capability of the fork truck.
