The beach profile adjusts rapidly to the wave energy. In general, high waves with short periods cause the beach to erode, and the berm sand is shifted offshore to the bar. Low waves with longer periods, primarily in summer, move sand from the bar and return it to the berm. The average wave height varies on a seasonal basis, resulting in typical “winter”(high energy) and “summer”(low energy) beach profiles. The winter profile is characterized by a narrow backshore, flat foreshore, and a large offshore bar. The summer profile has a wide backshore, a steep foreshore, and a well-developed berm. 3, record 4, English, - beach%20profile

A beautiful, delicate head characterizes the Arabian, often with a "dished" or concave profile below large, prominent eyes; a high-set, arched neck; and a naturally high tail carriage. These points of "type" give the Arabian its distinctive beauty. The ideal height for an Arabian is between 14. 2 and 15 hands and may be chestnut, gray, bay, and black. A stationary and non-accelerating flow is described with du/dt=dv/dt=0. With this,(7-3) becomes a set of differential equations for u, v whose solution yields the Ekman spiral. However, if we are not interested in accurate solutions and consider one layer only, we can see the meaning of the friction force as first shown by C. M. Guldberg and H. Mohn in 1883. The wind profile near the earth's surface is usually convex, if represented on a graph with wind speed versus height. The wind speed increases from zero at the earth's surface to significant values near the anemometer level, and further increase of wind speed with height continues at a slower rate. In this situation, the second derivatives of u and v may be assumed proportional to-u and-v, respectively : 2, record 15, English, - anemometer%20level

1, record 17, French, - r%C3%A9partition%20gaussienne%20des%20concentrations

There are many different approaches to region formation including the use of histograms, clusters, relaxation or cluster labels, and the further application of R-trees.... One simple data-driven region formation scheme based on R-trees illustrates the general process. This scheme, called the splinter rule, eliminates local low contrast texture and forms larger regions in the following manner. All maximal sets of consecutive peaks are located in the intensity profile whose valleys strictly ascend and then strictly descend in height from left to right. The peaks in each such "peak group" are merged into a new peak whose height and location are that of the highest peak in that "peak group". 1, record 18, English, - splinter%20rule
