HEIMS HYPOTHESIS [1 record]

Record 1 1977-04-12

English

Subject field(s)
  • Tectonics
OBS

Attempts have been made to explain tectonic deformations as being the result of extraterrestrial phenomena. Arnold Heim (...) assumed the passage into the neighborhood of the earth of a heavenly body that was heavy enough to produce very high tides, capable of modifying the rotation speed of the earth. He wondered if the interior strains that would result could not explain the formation of mountains.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Tectonique
OBS
