Maritime territory, a term in international maritime law to denote coastal waters which, although not within the strict territorial waters limit, are in direct contact with the open sea.

There is no limitation over the dominion of maritime territory. A bay or gulf, no matter how large, that cannot be held to be part of an open ocean highway is considered to be the maritime territory of the nation which occupies its shores, as, for example, the Gulf of St. Lawrence would be the maritime territory of Canada. A strait, of which both shores are within a national boundary, is also considered to be maritime territory, and the passage of foreign ships through it can be forbidden. But where the two shores of a strait are held by different countries, as for example Britain and France in the case of the Straits of Dover, the water between the shores cannot be claimed as maritime territory by either nation but is an international ocean highway.

The theme, Transportation and Communication, celebrated the centenaires of the founding of Vancouver and the arrival on the Pacific coast of the first passenger train. Fifty-four governments and industries from six continents participated and there were over 22 million individual visits to the site. The commissioner general was Patrick Reid. Located along Vancouver's inner-city waterway, the 70 hectare site featured over 80 pavilions and many indoor and outdoor performance venues, including the Xerox International Theatre, a 1500-seat outdoor amphitheatre; The Big House, a 400-seat theatre of longhouse design; The Barn, a 300-seat proscenium theatre; and the Street of the Expo site on which a street festival took place throughout the exposition's run. The Canadian Pavilion, separate from the main site accessible to visitors by a four--minute ride on Vancouver's new Advanced Light Rapid Transit system, housed five performance spaces including a 500-seat outdoor amphitheatre, the 380-seat Amiga Studio(the exhibition's only enclosed theatre), and the 350-seat Inner Stage.

In 1968 the Atlantic Agricultural Hall of Fame was established by the Atlantic Livestock Council as a means of honouring individuals in Atlantic Canada for their contribution to the development of the livestock industry in the regions. Each year, based on nominations received from farm and rural organizations, one person from each of the four Atlantic Provinces is honoured at induction ceremony and reception held during the month of the vestibule of the C. In 1994, Canada and the City of Montreal were selected by the International Vocational Training Organization(IVTO) to host the 35th World Skills Competition in 1999. The event was held between November 11-14 at the Olympic Stadium. It involved 1, 800 participants(candidates, experts, delegates, officials and observers) from 34 countries in 40 trade areas. A separate contest area was assembled for each discipline. Inside the contest area, one workstation will be set up for each candidate. In total, 600 workstations were set up inside the Olympic Stadium in over 40 different skilled areas. The stadium was transformed into a multidisciplinary plant containing machine centres, carpenter ships, a computer section, kitchens, a construction site, welding workstations and an automobile section.

The Milton Chamber of Commerce was initiated as the Milton Board of Trade well over 100 years ago on October 2, 1888. Early meetings of the Board of Trade were held in Chisholm's Hall(about 144 Main St.) on the first Friday evening of each month "when the interests of the town were fully discussed and well looked after". The Board of Trade changed its name to the Milton Chamber of Commerce in 1952 and in 1965 received its provincial charter. ... the nailing of wooden shingles and slates are entirely different. The heads of slating nails should just touch the slate and should not be driven "home" or draw the slate, but left with the heads just clearing the slate hangs on the nail. The opposite is true of wooden shingles and a man used to laying this material will invariably handle slate in the same way. As a consequence the slate, held too rigidly in place, is shattered around the nail hole, or the head of the nail crushed and eventually the slate may "ride" up over the nail and be blown off in a heavy wind... The temptation to use shingle nails instead of slating nails should be discouraged, for the slight saving in cost on the entire roof cannot approach the cost of repairs which may develop as a result of this practice.

Dip brazing. There are two methods of dip brazing : chemical bath dip brazing and molten metal bath dip brazing.... In molten metal bath dip brazing, the parts are immersed in a bath of molten brazing filler metal contained in a suitable pot. The parts must be cleaned and fluxed if necessary. A cover of flux should be maintained over the molten bath to protect it from oxidation. This method is largely confined to brazing small parts, such as wires or narrow strips of metal. The ends of the wires or parts must be held firmly together when they are removed from the bath until the brazing filler metal has fully solidified.
