A tree well is a dangerous void or area of loose snow around the trunk of a tree which is surrounded by deep snow. A person, especially a skier or snowboarder, can easily fall into this well, possibly causing serious injury or death. 2, record 2, English, - tree%20well
Record number: 2, Textual support number: 2 CONT
... deep depressions(“tree wells”) in the snow beneath the trees on slopes used for helicopter skiing can be a serious hazard to heli-skiers... ;a number of heli-skiing fatalities have occurred when heli-skiers have fallen into tree wells. 3, record 2, English, - tree%20well
Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 OBS
Tree wells are encountered in off-piste or ungroomed trails and on ungroomed piste boundaries. The risk of encountering a tree well is greatest during and immediately following a heavy snowstorm. Low hanging branches can further contribute to forming a tree well, as they efficiently shelter the area surrounding the trunk. Wells have been observed to be as deep as 20 feet. Wells can also occur near rocks and along streams. 2, record 2, English, - tree%20well

1, record 2, French, - trou%20de%20neige%20%C3%A0%20la%20base%20des%20arbres

Eco-tourism and adventure tourism are closely aligned but they are often differentiated in two ways. One difference is the degree of risk involved in the activities. Many people, for example, would call a snowboarding holiday more of an adventure than an eco-tourism experience because of the higher degree of risk. Another distinction is linked to the level of motorized transportation involved. Adventure tourism may make use of vehicles such as snowmobiles or helicopters for heli-skiing. While these are common distinctions, there are no hard rules for differentiating the two. Some activities could be labeled as adventure tourism, eco-tourism, recreation and outdoor pursuits at the same time. Indeed, some people may view biking through the mountains as adventure tourism while others might call it eco-tourism because they are out in nature enjoying the spring wildflowers. 3, record 4, English, - adventure%20tourism

3, record 4, Spanish, - turismo%20de%20aventura
