The fenestron, [like] a conventional tail rotor, [features] spinning blades that generate a thrust force to cancel out the tendency of a helicopter fuselage to rotate. However, the fenestron rotor differs from a conventional rotor by adding several more blades.... Compared to conventional tail rotor blades, the fenestron blades are also much smaller and spin at higher speeds. Furthermore, these blades are mounted within a shroud that forms part of the vertical tail fin of the helicopter. This configuration turns the rotor into a ducted fan whose blade tips are protected from the external air. 3, record 3, English, - fantail

2, record 3, French, - fenestron
Record number: 3, Textual support number: 2 CONT
3, record 3, French, - fenestron

The purpose of ALFLEX(Automatic Landing Flight Experiment) is to establish the basic technology for automatic landing of proposed HOPE. In this experiment, a test vehicle of the HOPE configuration is released from a helicopter flying at high altitude. After the release, it captures the approach path and lands automatically on the runway. The landing flight experiment was conducted thirteen times in total from July to August in 1996, and each experiment ended successfully. 2, record 4, English, - automatic%20landing%20flight%20experiment

1, record 6, French, - plateforme%20de%20type%20treillis%2C%20en%20acier
