The Agreement on Internal Trade(AIT) is an intergovernmental agreement signed by Canadian First Ministers that came into force in 1995. Its purpose is to foster improved interprovincial trade by addressing obstacles to the free movement of persons, goods, services and investments within Canada. The establishment of the AIT marks a significant achievement in helping to remove the existing interprovincial trade barriers, prevent the establishment of new barriers and harmonise interprovincial standards. These actions reduce extra costs to Canadian businesses by making internal trade more efficient, increasing market access for Canadian companies and facilitating work mobility for tradespeople and professionals. 1, record 3, English, - Agreement%20on%20Internal%20Trade

1, record 3, French, - Accord%20sur%20le%20commerce%20int%C3%A9rieur

The Aboriginal Skills and Employment Partnership(ASEP) initiative is helping to shape Canada's workforce by providing Aboriginal people with the skills development and work experience they need to participate in large-scale industrial sectors including forestry, mining, oil and gas, construction and hydro electric development. Officially launched in 2003 as an $85-million five-year labour market initiative, ASEP is designed to maximize training and job opportunities in major economic development projects across Canada. It does this by meeting employers’ needs and labour market demands for skilled workers. ASEP's ultimate success is contingent on the strong partnerships forged between Aboriginal groups, the private sector, federal, provincial and/or territorial governments, labour, and educational institutions. 1, record 4, English, - Aboriginal%20Skills%20and%20Employment%20Partnership

1, record 4, French, - Partenariat%20pour%20les%20comp%C3%A9tences%20et%20l%27emploi%20des%20Autochtones

Since 1991, Canada's monetary policy framework has consisted of two main elements–an inflation target and a flexible exchange rate. This framework has allowed Canada to pursue an independent monetary policy–a policy suited to our own circumstances. The two main elements work together and reinforce each other. The result has been low and stable inflation, with less volatility in output and employment.... To summarize, our monetary policy framework has served us well in maintaining a domestic environment of growth and stability. Together with other domestic policies, it has helped Canada to adjust to some significant changes in the global economy....
