... the surrogate victim-offender dialogue is a variation of the VOM [victim offender mediation] model that is used specifically when it is not possible for either the victim or the offender to meet... In this case, surrogates work as actors to provide information directly from the offender to the victim and vice versa. Sometimes this model is used as a preliminary step towards victim offender mediation : it allows the offender to acknowledge the consequences of her or his behaviour to a surrogate in preparation for a future meeting with the victim... 3, record 7, English, - surrogate%20victim%2Doffender%20dialogue

The lack of clear reasons for the decision has other potential ramifications. For example, it calls into question the continued existence of the so-called rolled-up charge. The necessity for this type of charge arises in cases where there is some evidence on multiple defences, typically self-defence, provocation, and intoxication. Although the evidence may not be sufficient for any of the particular defences to succeed, the evidence of all the relevant circumstances could cumulatively impact upon the accused's state of mind so as to raise a reasonable doubt about his or her actual intent. 1, record 14, English, - rolled%2Dup%20charge

The three main ways to win on the ground using grappling techniques include hold-downs, armlocks, and chokes. The offensive judoka attempts to win in these ways by scoring ippon. Only in hold-downs are partial scores(koka, yuko, waza-ari) awarded in addition to ippon. Therefore, a choke or armlock that does not make the opponent submit will not score points. In some instances, chokes and armlocks can be applied in the standing position, although doing so is rare because greater movement is possible by the opponent when standing, making it easier for him or her to defend and escape. Armlocks are executed by straightening the elbow joint, except for ude-garami(entangled armlock), which is performed with the elbow bent. 2, record 29, English, - armlock

Generally speaking, the RWO [real world object] insertion logic may insert a RWO at a location within the VRS [virtual reality scene] that corresponds to its location in the real world relative to the user's direction of gaze in real-time. As a result, the user sees the RWO within the augmented VRS as she would by taking off the HMD [head mounted display], providing her with spatial familiarity and reorientation cues without disrupting the flow of the VRS. Nevertheless, there may be certain instances where the insertion logic may place a RWO at a location within the VRS different than its location within the real world. The process of augmenting the VRS can continue progressively with the insertion or blending or overlaying of additional real world objects until the computer's DDL [disorientation detection logic] determines that the user no longer meets the criteria indicative of disorientation. 1, record 31, English, - insertion

2, record 39, Spanish, - feminicidio

The adverse consequences of romantic rejection are illustrated by Novak v. Waterfront Comm’n [Commission] of N. Y. [New York] Harbor. The plaintiff, Shanti Novak, was a detective with the Waterfront Commission of N. Y. Harbor. She became romantically involved with Scott Politano at a time when both held the same rank, in different locations. Eventually the two became live-in partners, and during this time, Politano was promoted to Lieutenant and was transferred to Novak's office, consequently becoming her supervisor. Novak terminated her relationship with Politano shortly thereafter. After her breakup with Politano, Novak was singled out for unfavorable treatment even after Politano was replaced as Novak's supervisor. Novak was given unfavorable work and shift assignments; was subjected to heightened scrutiny with respect to her work and her requests for overtime pay and sick leave; was the only detective not to receive further formal detective training; was excluded from an email regarding a shooting range schedule; and was the only detective to whom newly hired detectives were not assigned, which was both humiliating and deprived her of the opportunity to learn from the new assignees, who were seasoned detectives from other agencies. The situation became worse after she complained to the human resources department. 2, record 50, English, - live%2Din%20partner

The analysis turns next to the particular challenge posed by cases where the person claiming self-defense is a battered intimate partner. Such cases can generally be divided into two categories. In the first category, the battered partner exercises force during an episode of physical abuse by the batterer. In the other category of cases, the partner uses deadly force against her batterer in the absence of any occurrent abuse, but in fear or anticipation of future renewed attacks. 3, record 60, English, - battered%20intimate%20partner

The question presented in many parricide cases is the admissibility of expert testimony on battered child syndrome to aid in proving the defendant's claim of self-defense. Although battered child syndrome was originally developed as a physical diagnosis for victims of continuing child abuse, it currently includes an explanation of the psychological aspects as well. [...] One striking similarity between abused children and abused women is the failure of the child or woman to strike back at the abuser. In the case of the battered woman, this failure to strike out is attributed to learned helplessness resulting from her continued abuse. Such reasoning may readily be applied to the circumstances of the battered child as well. For a child, the feelings of lack of power or control over the situation are even greater than for a grown adult in such a situation. A child has minimal ability to leave home and permanently escape the abuse. This inability to escape results in increased fear and isolation. Often the child has been battered since a very young age and remembers no other type of existence. 3, record 61, English, - battered%20child%20syndrome

Underwater weighing, or hydrostatic weighing, is an assessment of body composition based on the determination of body density of densitometry. To determine the density of the body, the athlete is first weighed on land and is then submerged in a tank of water to determine his or her underwater weight... The basic premise of this technique is that fat-free mass sinks and fat floats; therefore, the more the body weighs in the water, the less fat within the body. 3, record 77, English, - hydrostatic%20weighing

Milking robots are automatic milking systems where milking is performed without direct participation of an operator. The cows are milked throughout the day, including 1 or 2 h needed for cleaning the equipment. An average number of milkings per day is 2.5–3. The result is by 10–15% higher production. Cows may visit a milking robot voluntarily or they may be directed to do it through automatic gates. Generally in barns with a milking robot, cows are kept indoors all year. 8, record 89, English, - milking%20robot

The collision clause also provides, in the final paragraph(sometimes known as the "sister ship clause") for the case of two vessels belonging to the same owner coming into collision. In such a case, ship A, having been damaged by ship B owing to the fault of the latter, though entitled to recover from her own underwriter for the actual damage sustained, would not have been able to recover loss of profit while repairing, because the common owner could not sue himself. Cases of this nature are met by the sister ship clause, which provides that, "should the vessel hereby insured come into collision with or receive salvage services from another vessel belonging wholly or in part to the same owners, or under the same management, the assured shall have the same rights under this policy as they would have were the other vessel entirely the property of owners not interested in the vessel hereby insured.
