Rowing Canada Aviron(RCA) is a nonprofit organization recognized by the Government of Canada and the Canadian Olympic Committee as the national governing body for the sport of rowing in Canada. RCA was originally founded as "The Canadian Association of Amateur Oarsmen" in 1880 by the rowing clubs then in existence-to coordinate and regulate the sport of amateur rowing. Where the Spirit Lives(1989) is a drama film about Aboriginal children getting taken from their tribes to attend residential schools. The setting is in Canada. Ashto-omi is a young Aboriginal girl taken by an Indian Agent, Taggert. Her younger brother Pita and other children are also lured into the airplane using candy canes. The two newcomers are forcefully renamed with names associated with Christianity. Ashto-Komi's name is changed to Amelia(no. 61) while Pita's is changed to Abraham(no. 67). Kathleen Gwillemberry is a new teacher to the school. Ashto-Komi gets stripped and scrubbed. Her hair is cut and scrubbed. Her hair is cut short. The old native style clothing is gone and gets replaced with uniforms. The children get a small amount of food to eat and are forced to do prayers every morning to become Christians. Ashto-Komi talks her language and gets beaten by the teacher. She did not know they were forbidden to talk their native language. Gwillemberry says they are poor children that don’t know any English after teaching her new class. Reverend Buckely replies and says "The children are like a garden, in order to maintain the beautiful flowers you need to pull all the weeds out and cut them back. "

The festival is named after Saint Walpurga(known in Scandinavia as "Valborg"; alternative forms are "Walpurgis", "Wealdburg", or "Valderburger"), born in Wessex in 710. She was a niece of Saint Boniface and, according to legend, a daughter to the Saxon prince St. Richard. Together with her brothers she travelled to Franconia, Germany, where she became a nun and lived in the convent of Heidenheim, which was founded by her brother Wunibald. Walpurga died on 25 February 779 and that day still carries her name in the Catholic calendar. However she was not made a saint until 1 May in the same year, and that day carries her name in the Swedish calendar. Historically the Walpurgisnacht is derived from Pagan spring customs, where the arrival of spring was celebrated with bonfires at night. Viking fertility celebrations took place around April 30 and due to Walpurga being declared a saint at that time of year, her name became associated with the celebrations. Walpurga was honored in the same way that Vikings had celebrated spring and as they spread throughout Europe, the two dates became mixed together and created the Walpurgis Night celebration.

SMITHTOWN(Shute an Glaser, 1986; Shute and Bonar, 1986) is a system for teaching economics, which combines a microworld for exploratory learning with a(bite-sized tutoring module.) The student is presented with a simulated town; she can vary parameters such as the supply or the price of certain goods to study the modifications induced in other parameters. Figure 7. 11 shows a snapshot of SMITHTOWN's "notebook" facility, which allows the student to record her experiments. The system implements two simultaneous pedagogical intentions : teaching principles of economics and teaching general investigative behaviors. Bites at the economics level monitor which laws the student is discovering, supplying the name of the new concept when she makes a relevant hypothesis. If the student flounders excessively, the system can become more directive and suggest experiments according to a curriculum that organizes the(domain bites). Bites for investigative behaviors monitor various skills of scientific inquiry such as the ability to collect and record data in a systematic way. At this level, the system acts as a coach, but it does not address inquiry skills directly, since these bites constitute a sort of(metacurriculum).
