Grit is available in two forms : soluble and insoluble. Soluble grit, such a cuttlebone and crushed oyster shells, dissolves as it passes through the digestive tract and serves as a source of calcium in the avian diet... Insoluble grit, generally found as sand or small pebbles, remains in the gizzard after ingestion and helps with the mechanical breakdown of food... Some species of birds, particularly herbivorous or granivorous species such as galliformes, require insoluble grit in their diet for efficient digestion... 2, record 1, English, - insoluble%20grit

1, record 1, French, - gravier%20insoluble

Although sometimes found in stagnant water, apple snails are more common in lakes and rivers where the water is clear and high in oxygen. These large, herbivorous snails usually breathe with their gills, but they can also obtain oxygen from the air through a lunglike structure in the mantle. After mating, a female apple snail lays masses of 1/4-inch eggs on plant stems and low branches near water. The young snails drop into the water after hatching. 1, record 2, English, - apple%20snails

Order of mammals which have substituted hooves(kind of thick horny part enclosing and covering the front of the last phalanx) for claws and have adapted for running. They are herbivorous. The body weight is borne only on the hooves. The old classification separating the Perissodactylo(odd-toed Ungulates) from the Artiodactyla(even-toed Ungulates) tends nowadays to be replaced by one distinguishing between the Mesaxonia(with the axis of the limb passing through the 3rd digit, and the other digits vestigial or absent) and the Paraxonia(in which the axis of the limb passes between the 3rd and 4th digits, which are equal in length, and the other digits vestigial or absent). Artiodactyls are divided into 2 suborders : the Suiformes, which include the wild boar(Sus scrofa), a pest of the family Suidae, and the Ruminantia(ruminants), which comprise the red deer(Cervus elaphus) and the roe deer(Capreolus capreolus). ... herbivorous insects are deterred by high metal concentrations in plant foliage. The mechanism behind this deterrence is not yet clear, and indeed this form of elemental defence might only be effective against a limited range of herbivores. But a further possibility is that metal hyperaccumulation may represent a defence against bacterial and fungal pathogens. If true, this would considerably broaden the scope of the elemental defence hypothesis and would provide a new perspective on the ecological significance and evolutionary origins of the metal hyperaccumulation trait. 2, record 11, English, - elemental%20defence

The short-faced bear(Arctodus simus) seems to have been mainly a flesh-eater and was by far the most powerful land predator during the Ice Age in North America. It may have attacked bison, deer, and horses... this species ranged the high grasslands of western North America from Alaska to Mexico... The short-faced bear became extinct some 10, 000 years ago, perhaps partly because some of its large prey died out earlier, and partly because of competition with the smaller, more herbivorous brown bears that entered North America from Eurasia. The short-faced bear(Arctodus simus), sometimes called the "bulldog", was the largest land carnivore in North America during the ice age. 2, record 20, English, - short%2Dfaced%20bear
