The Spry Point Ark was originally constructed, in 1975, as an environmental research facility for the United Nations Habitat for Humanity Forum. At that time it demonstrated to thousands of visitors world-wide, how appropriate technology could be developed for the benefit of human living and commercial activities. Today the Ark prevails as an international icon, symbolizing the environmental spirit that has matured in significant part, due to research that began at this site. As a result of this continued world-wide notoriety, the Ark is currently under consideration for designation as an Official Canadian Heritage site. 2, record 4, English, - Spry%20Point%20Ark
