The boulevards and monuments in Canada's Capital, the Parks and heritage buildings, the national festivals--these are just some of the results of over a century of ongoing strategic effort by the NCC and its predecessors. 4, record 2, English, - National%20Capital%20Commission

7, record 2, French, - Commission%20de%20la%20capitale%20nationale

Founded in 1954, the Sault Naturalists is an international club with about 100 members from both Ontario and Michigan. [It is] affiliated with Ontario Nature, Michigan Audubon Society, and Nature Canada. These affiliations allow [this club] to have a voice in environmental issues at the state, provincial, and national levels. [It] also receives current information from these groups and have access to their expertise, publications, and facilities. The club objectives are to provide members with a common meeting ground for exchanging ideas and for broadening their knowledge and understanding of natural science; to promote the appreciation, preservation, and conservation of natural heritage; and to support and co-operate with other organizations having similar aims. The club is active in environmental advocacy, stewardship, and education and has participated in planning for national and provincial parks. 2, record 10, English, - Sault%20Naturalists

Nineteen ninety-nine marked one very important change to the way the Department of Canadian Heritage is organized. We said goodbye to Parks Canada as a part of the Department, and welcomed Parks Canada to the Canadian Heritage portfolio as an agency. This new structure allows Parks Canada more flexibility to work with Canadians and do a better job meeting its number one priority-ensuring the ecological and commemorative integrity of nationally significant examples of Canada's natural and cultural heritage, for the benefit of present and future generations of Canadians. 1, record 37, English, - Changing%20for%20a%20Changing%20World

Extracts from the Federal Heritage Buildings Policy.(Parks Canada). Designation of Federal Heritage Buildings. All federal buildings 40 years old or older for which alteration, demolition, or disposal are planned must be identified and referred to the Federal Heritage Buildings Review Office(FHBRO) for evaluation, in order to determine if the buildings have heritage value. Also to be evaluated are buildings 40 years old or older whose acquisition is being contemplated. The Federal Heritage Buildings Review Office will evaluate the identified buildings to determine if they merit heritage designation. Parks Canada will prepare research that addresses historical, architectural and environmental criteria, as well as any other relevant information, as a basis for this evaluation. A building evaluated as a heritage building will be recommended for designation as a "classified" or as a "recognized" federal heritage building. A classified building is the higher of these two designations. The Federal Heritage Buildings Review Office will convey the recommended designation(classified or recognized) to the custodial department. The recommendation will be accompanied by a statement of heritage character. A federal building which has been designated under this policy will be entered in the Register of Federal Heritage Buildings, along with a statement of its heritage character. 2, record 52, English, - statement%20of%20heritage%20character

2, record 52, French, - %C3%A9nonc%C3%A9%20de%20valeur%20patrimoniale
