Commencing in 1974 and produced by the Education and Cultural Affairs Division of the National Museum of Man in conjunction with the relevant research divisions, the Museum Kits were multi-media, thematic, learning packages which were loaned free of charge for two-week intervals to schools community groups, libraries, etc. Each "museum in a box" included artifacts, specimens and related interpretive material such as films, maps, fact sheets, slides and resource books.
