We are a group of seed savers from coast to coast who protect Canada’s seed biodiversity by growing it ourselves and sharing it with others. Every year, we multiply the most vulnerable seed varieties that we can, exchange seeds with each other, and keep those varieties alive and in cultivation for future gardeners to enjoy. 3, record 1, English, - Seeds%20of%20Diversity%20Canada

A star-shaped, dark brown pod that contains a pea-sized seed in each of its eight segments. Native to China, star anise comes from a small evergreen tree. Although the flavor of its seeds is derived from anethol(the same oil that gives ANISE seed its pronounced flavor), star anise has a different heritage, the magnolia family. Its flavor is slightly more bitter than that of regular anise seed. In Asian cuisines, star anise is a commonly used spice and tea flavoring. It's also widely used to flavor LIQUEURS and baked goods in Western cultures. 5, record 2, English, - star%20anise

"Seeds of Diversity is a Canadian charitable organization dedicated to the conservation, documentation and use of public-domain non-hybrid plants of Canadian significance. Our 1400 members from coast to coast are gardeners, farmers, teachers, scientists, agricultural historians, researchers and seed vendors. Together we grow, propagate and distribute over 1500 varieties of vegetables, fruit, grains, flowers and herbs... Formerly known as the Heritage Seed Program, a project of the Canadian Organic Growers since 1984, Seeds of Diversity Canada is now an independent charitable corporation operated by a volunteer board of directors. We passionately believe in heirloom seed diversity and sustainable agriculture. We search the world over to locate authentic family or cultural heirloom seed stock which combines to produce great taste, while providing us with a genetic and cultural continuity that extends back to the origin of agriculture over 10,000 years ago. Some of our seed stock has been grown by the same families for generation after generation since the mid-18th century. 4, record 4, English, - heirloom%20seed
