Project Youth-Link focuses on youth talking across Canada. The Project Youth-Link "room" is a forum for students to have a live discussion about the issues and concerns of young Canadians today. Students from across the country are electronically linked to each other so that they can talk live over the Internet using the SchoolNet MOO. The Minister of Canadian Heritage, Sheila Copps, officially launched Youth-Link on February 16th, 1996 as part of "Canada-Take it to Heart" week. Project Youth-Link is a joint initiative of the Department of Canadian Heritage and Industry Canada.

Le projet Échange-Jeunesse vise à amener les jeunes de l'ensemble du Canada à dialoguer entre eux. La «salle» du projet Échange-Jeunesse est un lieu où les élèves peuvent discuter en direct des questions et préoccupations des jeunes Canadiens d'aujourd'hui. Les élèves de partout au pays sont en communication les uns avec les autres par voie électronique, de sorte qu'ils peuvent se parler en direct sur l'Internet en passant par le MOO du Réseau scolaire canadien. La ministre du Patrimoine canadien, Sheila Copps, a lancé officiellement Échange-Jeunesse le 16 février 1996 dans le cadre de la semaine «Le Canada, une affaire de cœur». National Wildlife Week is a program of the Canadian Wildlife Federation to celebrate our country's natural heritage and play an important role in its conservation. Proclaimed by Parliament in 1947, National Wildlife Week falls every year during the week of April 10-the birthdate of the late Jack Miner, one of the founders of Canada's conservation movement.

From 1993 to 1999, Citizenship and Immigration Canada(CIC) partnered with the Department of Canadian Heritage and the Heritage Foundation to deliver Citizenship and Heritage Week in February. In 2000, in order to focus attention on citizenship and immigration themes, CIC assumed sole responsibility for the week, renamed it Canada's Citizenship Week(CCW) and moved the week from February to October.

The Heritage Fairs Program is an educational initiative that provides opportunities for students in grades 4 to 9 to explore any aspect of Canadian heritage by creating a dynamic history project for public presentation. Students are able to use the medium of their choice to tell stories and share information about Canadian heroes and legends, milestones and achievements. In July of every year, the National Heritage Fair brings together 165 students from all provinces and territories. Students whose history projects are selected at the Regional Fairs gather together in a special week of sightseeing, historic tours, hands-on workshops and special events in the week prior to the public exhibit of their projects.

The Trappers’ Festival, held in The Pas during the third weekend of February annually, retains the flavour and celebrations of a diverse cultural heritage-the Northern Pioneer. The skills and entertainments enjoyed by the pioneers are brought to life in a week of events designed to generate sincere and genuine hospitality and friendship endemic to the North. The atmosphere of excitement, thrills and enthusiasm is experienced by competitor, participant and spectator alike. The Trappers’ Festival had its start in 1916, and has continued since, with breaks in the war years and during the depression. The festival was formally constituted and incorporated in 1947 and has operated annually since that time.
