Chronic viral infection underlies a wide variety of medically important diseases that either follow directly from primary infection or may require months, years or even decades to develop. Pathogens associated with significant disease, such as human immunodeficiency virus(HIV), hepatitis C virus(HCV) and a number of herpes viruses remain uncontrolled. 2, record 1, English, - chronic%20viral%20infection

The pathogenesis of AIDS is dependent on the biology of HIV, e. g :"Trojan horse" mechanism-virus escapes recognition by replication inside monocytes, from where it can spread to other tissues and other hosts. Latency-Lentiviruses do not show true latency(unlike Herpes viruses or lambda) but do have the capacity to control the expression of their genome by means of virus-encoded trans-acting regulatory proteins(tat and rev). Antigenic variation-new variants continually arise. In other Lentiviruses such as CAEV, each new antigenic variant results in a flare up of disease. 1, record 4, English, - antigenic%20variant

Equine Rhinopneumonitis(Herpes virus)-There are two distinct viral types which cause outbreaks of this disease in horses. These viral types are Equine Herpes Virus type 1(EHV-1) and type 4(EHV-4). Both viral types may cause respiratory tract disease and symptoms similar to influenza. The EHV-1 is also associated with abortion which typically occurs weeks after the initial respiratory signs appear. 4, record 5, English, - equine%20viral%20rhinopneumonitis
