HETEROLOGOUS PROTEIN [6 records]

Record 1 2020-08-20

English

Subject field(s)
  • Biochemistry
  • Biotechnology
CONT

Heterologous, or recombinant, proteins are produced when recombinant DNA technology is used to ensure the expression of a gene product in an organism in which it would not normally be made.

Record 2 2019-11-04

English

Subject field(s)
  • Genetics
  • Biochemistry
CONT

Pronuclear injection is used to generate animals that express gene sequences under the control of a heterologous promoter.

OBS

Heterologous(meaning ’derived from a different organism’) refers to the fact that often the transferred protein was initially cloned from or derived from a different cell type or a different species from the recipient.

  • Génétique
  • Biochimie
CONT

L'injection pronucléaire est utilisée pour produire des animaux qui expriment les séquences de gènes sous le contrôle d'un promoteur hétérologue.

English

Subject field(s)
  • Biochemistry
  • Biotechnology
DEF

A heteropolymeric protein, consisting of an ordered association of functionally and structurally different enzymes, which catalyse successive steps in a chain of metabolic reactions.

CONT

The multienzyme complex is an example of heterologous protein-protein interaction in a functional complex. The known multienzyme complexes consist of 2-7 different catalytic units associated noncovalently, with no associated lipids, nucleic acids or enzymatically inactive protein.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Biochimie
  • Biotechnologie
CONT

Record 5 1996-10-17

English

Subject field(s)
  • Genetics
CONT

A method for enhancing the secretion of heterologous proteins in Escherichia coli by optimizing, as opposed to simply maximizing, the translational level of a given protein is described. Random alteration of the translational initiation region(TIR) of the Heat-Stable Enterotoxin II(STII) signal sequence resulted in a library of vectors with varied translational strenghts.

CONT

There are some questions as to methodology [concerning research in molecular and developmental genetics] Things such as possible difficulties with interpretation of data from using heterologous biochemical assays and correlating in vitro protein phosphorylation sites with in vivo sites of phosphorylation could have been better addressed....

CONT

Protein kinase C-mediated bidirectional regulation of DNA synthesis, RB protein phosphorylation, and cyclin-dependent kinases in human vascular endothelial cells ... Agents which activate protein kinase C or otherwise enhance protein phosphorylation caused a substantial decrease in A beta production in vitro ... The muscarinic inhibition of cyclic AMP (cAMP) mediated contractile effects may not only be the result of a reduction in cAMP levels, but may also involve cAMP linked protein phosphorylation in the heart ... Recent studies in Alzheimer brains have shown aberrant protein phosphorylation, suggesting an alteration in protein kinases and/or phosphoprotein phosphatases ... [Source: PASCAL database].

CONT
