A partition process in which the paper acts both as the support and, by virtue of the water held in its fibres, as the stationary phase. 3, record 1, English, - paper%20chromatography
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 CONT
The tendency for a compound to divide its time between two immiscible solvents(solvents such as hexane and water which won’t mix) is known as partition. Paper chromatography using a non-polar solvent is therefore a type of partition chromatography. 4, record 1, English, - paper%20chromatography
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 2 CONT
Paper chromatography ... is used widely for qualitative identification, although quantitative analysis can be done. A sample is spotted onto a strip of filter paper with a micropipet, and the chromatogram is "developed" by placing the bottom of the paper (but not the sample spot) in a suitable solvent ... The solvent is drawn up the paper by capillary action, and the sample components move up the paper at different rates, depending on their solubility and their degree of retention by the paper. 5, record 1, English, - paper%20chromatography

2, record 1, Spanish, - cromatograf%C3%ADa%20en%20papel

Thus, 1 ppm of methane is indicated as 1 ppmC. To convert ppm concentration of any hydrocarbon to an equivalent ppmC value, multiply ppm concentration by the number of carbon atoms per molecule of the gas. For example, 1 ppm propane translates as 3 ppmC hydrocarbon; 1 ppm hexane as 6 ppmC hydrocarbon. 1, record 9, English, - part%20per%20million%20carbon

Canola or rapeseed processing is similar to that of other high-oil content seeds in which one of three basic types of processes may be involved : 1) expeller pressing; 2) prepress-solvent extraction, and 3) direct solvent extraction. Prepress-solvent extraction is a combination of mechanical and solvent extraction, with the final portion of oil being removed with a solvent-hexane. In this process, much less residual oil is left in the meal. 1, record 10, English, - prepress%2Dsolvent%20extraction

1, record 10, French, - extraction%20par%20solvant%20apr%C3%A8s%20pression

Farcasiu had already developed SESC (sequential elution by solvents-chromatography) for separating coal fluids into distinct chemical classes. The method seemed even better suited for the separation of biomass oils which, unlike coal products, have no nitrogenous fraction to deal with.... 1, record 12, English, - sequential%20elution%20by%20solvents%2Dchromatography

The original SESC technique required only slight modification for the purpose at hand. Since wood oil is virtually devoid of aliphatic hydrocarbons, the first step, elution with hexane, was omitted. Whatever amount of this fraction, F1, does exist is eluted along with the aromatic hydrocarbons by 15% benzene-hexane in the present technique. This hydrocarbon fraction is designated F1, 2. Also, we have found acetic acid to be superior to pyridine for removing the last wood oil residues from the column. 1, record 12, English, - sequential%20elution%20by%20solvents%2Dchromatography
