HH POLARISATION [3 records]

Record 1 2025-07-02

English

Subject field(s)
  • Radio Transmission and Reception
  • Remote Sensing
  • Range Measurements (Telecommunications)
OBS

Polarization refers to the orientation of the electric field ... Most radars are designed to transmit microwave radiation either horizontally polarized (H) or vertically polarized (V). Similarly, the antenna receives either the horizontally or vertically polarized backscattered energy, and some radars can receive both.

Key term(s)
  • horizontal transmit and horizontal receive polarisation
  • HH polarisation
  • horizontal transmission and horizontal reception polarisation
  • horizontal transmission and horizontal reception

French

Domaine(s)
  • Émission et réception radio
  • Télédétection
  • Mesures à distance (Télécommunications)
OBS

Record 2 2007-02-01

English

Subject field(s)
  • Radar, Radio Guidance and Goniometry
CONT

Instead of scanning between different elevation sub-swaths, the Alternating Polarisation Mode(co-polar) scans between two polarisations, HH and VV, within a single swath(which is preselected, as for the Image Mode). In addition, there are two cross-polar modes, where the transmit pulses are all H or all V polarisation, with the receive chain operating alternatively in H and V, as in the CO-polar mode.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Radar, radioguidage et radiogoniométrie
CONT

Record 3 2006-02-10

English

Subject field(s)
  • Radar, Radio Guidance and Goniometry
  • Spacecraft
  • Remote Sensing
CONT

Extended beam modes. Low incidence. High indicence.

OBS

The RADASAT-2 extended functions allow for high-resolution space imagery modes up to three meters as well as a selection of multiple polarisation modes. In the quad-pol mode, the SAR sensor on board RADARSAT-2 is able to measure the amplitude and the backscattered wave phase in all combinations of the antenna linear polarisations-emission and reception(HH, HV, VV AND VH).

OBS

extended beam mode: term officially approved by the RADARSAT-2 Terminology Approval Group (RTAG).

French

Domaine(s)
  • Radar, radioguidage et radiogoniométrie
  • Engins spatiaux
  • Télédétection
CONT

Mode faisceaux prolongés haute incidence, [...] faible incidence.

OBS
