[History of Inuit Art :] Historical Overview of Epochs... People have been living in the Yukon region for almost 30 000 years and their history can be separated into several epochs : Pre-Dorset, Dorset, Thule, Historic and Contemporary.... The Historical Period[. ] This period is marked by several occurrences : the demise of Thule culture, a climatic change wherein weather was increasingly cold, the disappearance of the whales and the arrival of the white man in the 16th century. Around 1800, the various carvings, dolls, and toys were being traded with the whalers, sailors and explorers who were making increasingly frequent visits in the area. Trade art often was more detailed and exquisite than non-trade art of the time. By the early twentieth century, trade art had lost the magico-religious element and some areas even produced European objects such as Roman Catholic figurines, cigarette boxes, and cribbage boards. Increasingly, Inuit art forms were suited toward Europeans. 1, record 3, English, - Historical%20Period

Used primarily in New England, the Aquatic Base Flow method uses historic flow data to determine the median flow for the lowest flow month(typically August or September), and applies that level to the remainder of the year... This approach assumes that a specific flow rate per unit of watershed area will provide an adequate minimum flow. It is simple to use, if historic data is available, but cannot account easily for site-specific biological concerns; nor can the method adequately and defensibly adjust for spawning or incubation. 3, record 9, English, - aquatic%20base%20flow%20method

Beginning in 2011, construction of long-term waste management facilities will begin in Port Hope and Port Granby(eastern Clarington) to safely manage the waste for hundreds of years. This will be followed by the cleanup of the existing historic low-level radioactive waste found within each of these communities. In all, cleanup and construction are expected to take between six and eight years. 1, record 12, English, - Port%20Hope%20Area%20Initiative%20Management%20Office
