... the New Orleans Commodity Exchange opened in April 1981. It is the eleventh futures exchange in America. The new Exchange opened trading in rough rice and milled rice futures on the trading floor of the historic New Orleans Board of Trade Building. On July 7, 1981, the Exchange launched its third market in short-staple cotton futures.
