Objectives... Promote a sense of identity for families who have connections originating in Ukraine and those who have been affected by such origin. Encourage individuals and families to research their family tree. Provide assistance to individuals or families who request help with their ancestral lineage. Encourage individuals to write their personal histories as well as those of their ancestors. Function as a historical resource center to collect and preserve the family history of our heritage for future generations. Emphasize the value of Ukrainian language, through the written and spoken word. Encourage fellowship on a local, provincial, state, national, and international level. Encourage the formation of genealogical chapters promoting the preservation of Ukrainian heritage. Collect family histories, pedigree charts, family group sheets, books, manuscripts, pertaining to Ukrainian genealogy and heraldry.

The validity of comparisons with this type of control group is suspect because the historical group is likely to differ from the current group in its composition, diagnosis, disease severity, measurement of outcomes, or other important ways that could influence the research findings. It may be feasible to use historical controls in special instances where the outcomes of a standard treatment(or no treatment) are well known and vary little for a given population.
