In its simplest form, behavioural targeting is the practice of learning from previous behavioural traits and patterns, in order to target experiences, content or ideas to individuals. It involves using past historical data to determine when exactly to deliver these experiences at a time and context when they will be most effective, persuasive, and influential. It draws on an extensive range of data, including data obtained from people's browsing history, search engine queries, and ads that they have previously clicked on, as well as potentially any form of interaction a person engages in on the internet. 2, record 2, English, - behavioural%20targeting

Blount's disease occurs in children with no apparent abnormality at birth, having a typical history of "genu varum" worsening with gait before the age of 2 years. The less frequent juvenile onset may occur between 4 and 10 years and the adolescent form over 11 years.... Blount's disease is believed to result from abnormal compression of the medial aspect of the proximal tibial physes, causing retardation of growth in that area or increased growth laterally of the proximal tibia or fibula... In juvenile Blount's disease, the etiology is less clear and may relate more to malalignment, leading to the characteristic changes visible on radiographs. 3, record 3, English, - juvenile%20Blount%26rsquo%3Bs%20disease

This achievement clearly demonstrated that these important enzymes, which catalyze a major energy-yielding metabolic pathway, can function independently of cell structure. However, it was not until many years later that an enzyme was first isolated in pure crystalline form. This was accomplished by J. B. Sumner in 1926 for the enzyme urease isolated from extracts of the jack bean. Sumner presented evidence that the crystals consist of protein, and he concluded, contrary to prevailing opinion, that enzymes are proteins. 3, record 14, English, - urease

Virtual history, also referred to as counterfactual history, is a form of history which attempts to answer "what if" questions. It seeks to explore history and historical processes from the point of view of extrapolating a position in which certain key historical events did not happen or had an outcome which was different to that which did in fact occur. Most historians regard counterfactual history as sometimes entertaining, but not meeting the standards of mainstream historical research due to its speculative nature. 5, record 27, English, - counterfactual%20history

Les Anglais disent What if? 1, record 27, French, - histoire%20contrefactuelle

Predicting surface settlements is one of the key tasks for engineers in building urban tunnels. This work analyzes the set of information gathered during the boring phase for the northern tunnel of the "Toulon underground crossing".... The article then focuses on : the northern tunnel site of the Toulon underground crossing, the two real-time prediction methods used to control tunnel construction from 1998 to 2000, and the conclusions drawn from the surface settlement analysis along the tunnel. The first set of conclusions from this study highlight the importance of the initial geomechanical state of the ground, which has been inherited from the tectonic history of the site. The tunnel crossing of the site has revealed these differences in initial state, which assume the form of a sequence of alternatively contracted and dilated zones, thereby producing uneven surface settlements. 2, record 35, English, - underground%20crossing

PARKS CANADA. An historically inhabited place is an entity which was inhabited in the past but is no longer inhabited. As its name does not appear in the relevant provincial or territorial Gazetteer, the only evidence of its existence comes from history books or archival documents. This is the case of, among others, "Port-la-Joye" (P.E.I.), "Lower Fort Garry" (Man.), "Fish Creek" (Sask.), "Ninstints" (B.C.) and "Dawson City" (Y.T.), names of historically inhabited places used in Parks Canada toponyms. 1, record 43, English, - historically%20inhabited%20place

Sometimes, a distinction must be made between the historical designation and the present designation of a given toponym. For example, history texts confirm the existence in present-day Nova Scotia of "Port-Royal"(an historically inhabited place), where Champlain built the Habitation in 1605. The Gazetteer for the province indicates the existence, near the historical site, of the rural community now incorporated under the name "Port Royal"(currently gazetteered inhabited place) ;the same comment applies to the historical "Grand-Pré" and the currently inhabited "Grand Pré". Similarly, "Castle Hill" and "Signal Hill"(Nfld.) are entities that were once inhabited and were located on the geographical entities having the same names that are currently gazetteered and have a different form in FR :"Castle Hill(Nfld.)--colline Castle(T.-N.) "and "Signal Hill(Nfld.)--colline Signal(T.-N.) ". 1, record 43, English, - historically%20inhabited%20place

-- colline Signal (T.-N.)». 1, record 43, French, - lieu%20historiquement%20habit%C3%A9

[History of Hypertext] In addition to the establishment of individual links, Bush also wanted the Memex to support the building of trails through the material in the form of a set of links that would combine information of relevance for a specific perspective on a specific topic. He even forecast the establishment of a new profession of "trail blazers", "who find delight in the task of establishing useful trails through the enormous mass of the common record. "In current terminology, these trail blazers would be people who add value to published collections of text and other information by providing a web of hypertext links to supplement the basic information. Natural Entrance Points : These are the points at which the coastline can most reasonably be said to turn inward to form an indentation or bay. In the history of the law of bays and its codification, this is a new term. It appears to be about as accurately expressive of the natural conditions envisioned for a juridical bays as any that can be devised. Although never appearing in the Drafts of the United Nations International Law Commission on the law of the sea, it was used in the opinion of the Court in United Kingdom v. Norway.

Currently available multi-media packages, or kits, contain a variety of self-teaching and self-testing materials. Major portions of many of them take the form of printed booklets, self-check test materials, filmstrips..., tape recordings, study prints, and 2-by 2-inch slides. Companies now produce kits in many fields-including geography, history, elementary and secondary science,.... From this basic core of materials the multi-media kits expand widely into other kinds of teaching media. 2, record 53, English, - multi%2Dmedia%20kit
