Researchers identify coercive controlling violence by the pattern of power and control in which it is embedded... The Power and Control Wheel... provides a useful graphical representation of the major forms of control that constitute coercive controlling violence : intimidation; emotional abuse; isolation; minimizing, denying, and blaming; use of children; asserting male privilege; economic abuse; and coercion and threats... Abusers do not necessarily use all of these tactics, but they do use a combination of the ones that they feel are most likely to work for them. Because these nonviolent control tactics may be effective without the use of violence(especially if there has been a history of violence in the past), coercive controlling violence does not necessarily manifest itself in high levels of violence. 3, record 1, English, - coercive%20controlling%20violence

[History of Inuit Art :] Historical Overview of Epochs... People have been living in the Yukon region for almost 30 000 years and their history can be separated into several epochs : Pre-Dorset, Dorset, Thule, Historic and Contemporary.... The Historical Period[. ] This period is marked by several occurrences : the demise of Thule culture, a climatic change wherein weather was increasingly cold, the disappearance of the whales and the arrival of the white man in the 16th century. Around 1800, the various carvings, dolls, and toys were being traded with the whalers, sailors and explorers who were making increasingly frequent visits in the area. Trade art often was more detailed and exquisite than non-trade art of the time. By the early twentieth century, trade art had lost the magico-religious element and some areas even produced European objects such as Roman Catholic figurines, cigarette boxes, and cribbage boards. Increasingly, Inuit art forms were suited toward Europeans. 1, record 7, English, - Historical%20Period

Exhibition of the Canadian Museum of Civilization. "This exhibition explores a universal subject, covering the history of humanity and a wealth of regions around the world. Signed, Sealed, Delivered will enable visitors to follow the letter in an astonishing trip around the globe, through the ages and in all its possible forms-from authentic clay Mesopotamian tablets, to letters exchanged in wartime, to modern day e-mail. Nine themes will breathe life into the most significant moments and events in the development of the postal system : writing practices, the origins of the post, the colonial era, Canadian postage stamps, transportation, sorting and technology in the transmission of mail, the contents of the mail, mail in wartime and the rural post office.
