Fisheries and Oceans Canada. Fish and fish products imported into Canada are inspected to prevent the marketing of unsafe, unwholesome or mislabled products. Increased inspection effort is directed at foreign processors which have demonstrated a history of poor compliance with Canadian standards. The costs of the Import Inspection Program are partially recovered. Importers must obtain an import licence and are also required to pay an inspection services fee for each shipment of fish imported plus examination fees for products that have a history of non-compliance.

Pêches et Océans Canada. Le poisson et les produits du poisson importés au Canada sont inspectés afin de prévenir la commercialisation de produits malsains, présentant des dangers pour la santé ou étiquetés incorrectement. Aux Services d'inspection, on oriente une plus grande partie des efforts sur les transformateurs étrangers qui ont déjà enfreint les normes canadiennes. Le recouvrement des coûts du Programme d'inspection des importations est assuré en partie. Les importateurs doivent obtenir un permis d'importation et ils sont également tenus de payer les coûts des services d'inspection pour chaque envoi de poisson importé, auxquels s'ajoutent les frais d'examen des produits qui ont déjà posé un problème.
