The origins of most ice sports are understandably rooted in countries and regions of the world that have colder climates.... Most residents and natives of these areas have grown up with, and enjoy participating in ice sports such as broom ball, ice hockey, curling, figure skating, speed skating and ringette. However, these sports are also very popular in many other parts of the world with some of them such as curling, ice hockey, figure skating and speed skating, being Olympic sports. Most of these sports originated outdoors on frozen lakes, rivers and ponds many years ago and although they can still be enjoyed outdoors, they are now mainly played indoors from the comfort and warmth of luxurious ice arenas. 2, record 12, English, - ice%20sport

This sporting and cultural event takes place every 3 years and is hosted in the central Labrador town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay. Contests will be held in "traditional" skill testing events such as target shooting, dog sled racing, snowmobile racing, cross country skiing, snowshoe races, northern triathlon, snowshoe biathlon and the labrathon(a test of the skill a trapper would need to survive on The Big Land). As well, more commonly known events such as ball hockey, volleyball, darts, badminton and table tennis will take place. 1, record 15, English, - Labrador%20Winter%20Games
