Publication Date-1996-07-10. This Policy Statement brings to a close a process of public consultation on specific policies related to broadcasting and telecommunications put forward in October 1994, in Order in Council P. C. 1994-1689. The policies addressed three broad areas : interconnection and interoperability of network facilities, continued support for Canadian content, and competition in facilities, products and services. The Order in Council requested the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission(CRTC) to hold public consultations and report on issues related to the implementation of these policies.
