Milking machines are used to milk a cow. The cows go into a milking barn, their udders are cleaned and a rubber lined suction cup is attached to the teat. The suction cup simulates the suckling action of a calf nursing. The suction cup is attached to hoses and pipes which collect the milk in a holding tank. The milk is then quickly cooled. Cows are milked twice and sometimes three times a day, usually at the same times each day. All equipment used for milking is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized before and after each use. 2, record 3, English, - milk

lis pendens(L. "a pending lawsuit") … is a useful LATINISM that has given its name to a notice required in some jurisdictions to warn all persons that certain property is the subject matter of litigation, and that any interests acquired during the pendency of the suit must be subject to the outcome of the litigation. Traditionally this notice was called the notice of lis pendens, but 20th century American lawyers have shortened the phrase to merely lis pendens. E. g., "The defendant says that the plaintiff's harsh conduct in holding up a whole subdivision by the lis pendens in this action disentitles him to relief. Overholding with consent. Until rent is paid or something said or done on the part of the landlord to indicate an intention to treat the tenant holding over as his tenant for a further term, the landlord may treat him as a trespasser and bring an action of ejectment. When, however, a tenant is allowed to continue in possession after the expiration of a tenancy by agreement, the terms on which he continues to occupy are matters of evidence rather than of law. If there is nothing to show a different understanding he will be considered to hold on the terms of the old lease in so far as these terms are applicable. It is also a question of intention whether the parties, when the lease provides for overholding, intend the tenant to remain under the overholding provisions or under a new lease.(Anger and Honsberger, 2nd, p. 285-286) 1, record 5, English, - holding%20over

Plea bargaining. ... Crown counsel and defence counsel negotiate out of court, and reach an agreement. Without purporting rigidly to limit the area on which agreements may be made, we say that usually such agreements are: 1. That Crown counsel will, if the accused pleads guilty to a lesser charge, withdraw a major charge. ... 2. That Crown counsel, in return for a plea of guilty by the accused to a charge, will recommend to the Court the imposition of some lenient form of sentence, say probation. For reasons that will become evident in the course of this working paper,... we prefer to abandon the expression "plea bargaining"(which, to some, has an inherently negative connotation) in favour of more neutral terminology. In our view, the process with which we are concerned(though unquestionably flawed) may better be described as that of "plea negotiation", or the holding of "plea discussions". The object of that process is to reach a satisfactory agreement, not to give the accused a "bargain. "Accordingly, our recommendations eschew the expression "plea bargain" and replace it with "plea agreement". We define that expression(again, in neutral terms) as "any agreement by the accused to plead guilty in return for the prosecutor's agreeing to take or refrain from taking a particular course of action". 7, record 9, English, - plea%20bargaining

Collective action clauses allow bondholder trustees(for example, a bondholder assembly) to modify the repayment terms of bonds subject the approval of a qualified majority of bondholders(typically, those holding a supermajority of the outstanding debt). By contrast, the unanimous consent of all bondholders is required to revise the terms of repayment(amounts and timing) of a bond issue. 3, record 14, English, - collective%20action%20clause

The object of that process is to reach a satisfactory agreement, not to give the accused a "bargain". Accordingly, our recommendations eschew the expression "plea bargain" and replace it with "plea agreement". We define that expression(again, in neutral terms) as "any agreement by the accused to plead guilty in return for the prosecutor's agreeing to take or refrain from taking a particular course of action". 1, record 15, English, - plea%20agreement

With time, further improvements were made to milling equipment. Grooves were cut in the rubbing surfaces of saddlestones and methods of holding a supply of grain in the top grinding stone while feeding grain onto the lower stone were developed. The lever mill eventually evolved in which the grain was subjected to a shearing and grinding action by a flat furrowed stone moving back and forth in a horizontal arc. 1, record 17, English, - lever%20mill
