HOLE FILL [22 records]

Record 1 2017-05-04

English

Subject field(s)
  • Hand Tools
CONT

The hammer handle should always be tight in the head... The eye or hole in the hammer head is made with a slight taper in both directions from the center. After the handle, which is tapered to fit the eye, is inserted, in the head, a steel or wooden wedge is driven into the end of the handle that is inserted into the head. This wedge expands the handle and causes it to fill the opposite taper in the eye. Thus the handle is wedged in both directions...

CONT

Self-sealing tires are designed to fix most tread-area punctures instantly and permanently. These tires feature standard tire construction with the exception of an extra lining inside the tire under the tread area that's coated with a puncture sealant that can permanently seal most punctures from nails, bolts or screws up to 3/16 of an inch in diameter. These tires first provide a seal around the object when the tire is punctured and then fill in the hole in the tread when the object is removed.

CONT

Plastic and semiplastic explosives. Many of the explosives used for commercial purposes belong to this group. The consistency is such that the explosive can be shaped by moderate pressure to fill the drill hole. The difference between plastic and semiplastic form is primarily dependent on the difference in equipment which has been found necessary in manufacturing cartridges of the explosive. The viscose of the plastic type makes it possible to produce cartridges by a process of extrusion through tubes.

DEF

GP 2000 Grout Pump. Description: The MBT GP2000 is a spiral (Rotor/Stator) pump used for mixing and pumping of cementitious grouts and the spraying of repair mortars and small volumes of shotcrete. It will deliver approximately 2m’ per hour of any pumpable material with an aggregate size up to 4mm. The stator has an adjustable clamp housing which maintains a constant output pressure and lengthens the service life of the pump parts. Recommended for: placement of grouts for encapsulating cables and rock anchors - particularly in mining applications, spraying of repair mortars, spraying of shotcrete.

OBS

In general terms, grouting refers to the injection of a suitable binding admixture into the ground as a means to fill voids, consolidate loose formations, stabilize structures, or as an isolating barrier. It can be classified under three main areas in construction applications. a. Cement grouting : A combination of mixtures such as cement/sand/bentonite is used to fill voids and can consolidate coarse soils, sands, gravels and the like. Usually pumped into a drilled bore hole under low to medium pressure or by the tube-et-manchette method. b. Chemical grouting... c. Fissure/Permeation grouting...

Carefully place plant into the prepared pits and fill in around the ball to one-half the depth of the hole with loam... Roots that have been wrapped around the ball within the burlap shall be made to lay in as natural a manner as possible. Fill remaining area of hole with loam and thoroughly tamp to 85-percent of maximum density. Form a saucer around the edge of the backfilled hole by constructing a berm. The finish height of the compacted berm shall be 3-inches. No excess soil other than the berm will be allowed to remain within the plant saucer. Fill saucer area with water.

CONT

The planting of trees and shrubs of large size is completed by the addition of an earthen collar at the limits of the pit to retain and focus water toward the root ball. Slope plantings especially benefit from having this water-holding saucer.

CONT

If you construct an earth basin around the tree or shrub, place berms just outside of the root ball. This forces water through the root ball. Irrigate the entire tilled area. Water will settle the backfill soil without restricting aeration.

CONT

A device known as a pop, or blind riveter will install and set rivets without the use of a tool to support the work.... Each rivet has a pin, or mandrel, which is automatically broken off, removed, and discarded after the rivet has been set. The stem of the rivet is inserted in the tool and placed through the hole. As the tool is squeezed, the mandrel draws the concealed end of the rivet back, expands it to completely fill the hole, then breaks off as soon as the head is formed.
