HOLE REAMING [8 records]

Record 1 2011-07-12

English

Subject field(s)
  • Oil Drilling
  • Boring and Drilling (Mines)
  • Drilling and Boring (Construction)
CONT

The HDD construction method is used to install pipelines beneath obstacles-such as stream crossings, lakes, coastal bluffs and road or railroad crossings where conventional open trench pipe construction techniques would cause unacceptable environmental disturbance or resource impacts. Using the continuous bore hole method, a HDD tunnels beneath surface obstacles and then pulls pipeline back through the underground tunnel, leaving the surface undisturbed. The HDD installation involves four main steps : pre-site planning, drilling the pilot hole, expanding pilot hole by reaming, and pullback of a pre-fabricated steel pipe string.

Domaine(s)
  • Forage des puits de pétrole
  • Sondage et forage miniers
  • Sondage et forage (Construction)
CONT

Le forage directionnel horizontal est une technique de construction pour l'installation de conduites ou de câbles de petites dimensions ne nécessitant pas le creusage de tranchées. Elle s'est développée à partir des technologies de forage vertical principalement utilisées en industrie pétrolière.

English

Subject field(s)
  • Drilling (Machine-Tooling)
CONT

Bolted parts. ... Holes may be punched, subpunched or subdrilled and reamed, or drilled ...

OBS

subdrill : To drill(a hole) to a size that leaves sufficient metal for finishing by reaming.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Perçage (Usinage)
CONT

English

Subject field(s)
  • Equipment (Oil and Natural Gas Extraction)
  • Boring and Drilling (Mines)
  • Drilling and Boring (Construction)
DEF

A tool employed in drilling and used for smoothing the wall of a well, enlarging the hole to the desired size, stabilizing the bit, straightening the wellbore where kinks or doglegs are encountered, and drilling directionally.

CONT

The outside surface of the reaming shell is provided with inset diamonds or other cutting media set to a diameter to cut a specific clearance for the core barrel.

CONT

Reaming shells maintain the desired diameter of the [bore] hole. These make it unnecessary to ream with new bits to the bottom, reduce wear on the core barrel, and prevent sticking of bits due to loss of gauge.

DEF

Outil muni de lames ou de rouleaux qu'on utilise généralement pour régulariser et calibrer les parois d'un puits avant le tubage.

CONT

Mills are run on drill pipe or tubing and are used for such purposes as grinding up debris in the hole, removing stuck portions of drill stem, removing sections of casing for sidetracking, and reaming out tight spots in casing. They are variously termed junk mills, reaming mills, etc., according to the use for which they were designed.
