The Pagan holiday called Yule takes place on the day of the winter solstice, around December 21 in the northern hemisphere(below the equator, the winter solstice falls around June 21). On that day, [the] earth's axis tilts away from the sun in the Northern Hemisphere, and the sun reaches its greatest distance from the equatorial plane.... As a festival of the Sun, the most important part of any Yule celebration is light — candles, bonfires, and more.

Downsview Park's Trail of Lights is one of Canada's largest holiday light shows. Trail of Lights sparkles with over 400, 000 LED bulbs in hundreds of LED light displays along a three-kilometre-long trail through the Canada Forest at Downsview Park. Open from November 27 to January 3, 6 pm to 11 pm! Experiencing Downsview Park's Trail of Lights is a great family holiday tradition.

Volunteers pick them up at various residences and drive them around the city in comfortable coaches to look at the spectacular lights. The Kamloops residents go above and beyond to decorate for the holiday season, knowing that the seniors will be driving by.
