CONT

… whatever laser light is used, a [holographic optical element(HOE) ] is now a serious candidate to replace a conventional optical element, such as in supermaket scanners, [compact disc/digital video disc(CD/DVD) ] players, automotive and aircraft heads-up displays, and so forth. These elements can, of course, be made by exposing a holographic recording material, …

The loop conjugator can also be considered as an adaptive laser resonator with a holographic grating element formed by the self-intersecting beam. Such a system can produce output energy at least two orders of magnitude higher than a high-quality injecting pulse.

The compound holographic element is compact and easy to align. It can be used with broadband sources, generating a vortex beam with the same angular momentum for all wavelengths, and keeping the spatial and temporal profile when used with ultrashort laser pulses.

DEF

[A holographic] recording whereby the object is illuminated by two pulses, separated by a time interval, from a Q-switched laser source.

OBS

Each pulse is divided into reference and object beams, and produces an interference pattern on the photographic medium.

With the D-HUD, a form of holographic recording is used to produce a thin-film lens, covering the whole area of the curved combining glass.(...) This thin-film lens is produced by the use of a laser which records, photographically, a form of diffraction grating within a layer of gelatin which is coated onto the curved combining glass. After processing, the thin film lens is covered by a second glass layer to form a sandwich, with the "lens" formed by changes in the refractive index of the gelatin layer, providing the effect of a diffraction grating.
