La Fundación del Español Urgente (Fundéu BBVA), con el asesoramiento de la Real Academia Española, indica que los términos "presidente honorario" o "presidente de honor" son mejores que "presidente honorífico". El Diccionario de la Real Academia Española señala que "honorario", referido a una persona, es "que tiene los honores pero no la propiedad de una dignidad o empleo", mientras que "honorífico" lo define como "que da honor". De este modo, si bien es cierto que un presidente honorario ostenta un título honorífico, pues el cargo le confiere honores a su titular, no por ello diremos que la persona que lo ostenta —el presidente— es honorífica, sino honoraria. 1, record 1, Spanish, - presidente%20honorario
