To secure oneself with a leg lock while facing away from the ladder, first secure the top of the ladder. Then descend to the level from which the work is to be done. While facing away from the ladder, lift one leg and insert it through the ladder, over the second rung above the one on which the other foot rests. Bring the foot back through, over the rung above the one on which the other foot rests, and hook the foot over the beam.
