In November 1998, the Canadian Association of Immersion Teachers, in collaboration with Canadian Parents for French and the Canadian Association of Second Language Teachers, held the first collaborative conference of national organizations in Canada that support second-language learning. The theme of the conference, "Hooked on Immersion ... it’s Capital" focussed on sharing theories, research and new pedagogical and technological trends.
