Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 CONT
A medium turn radius well has at least one section with a build rate angle of between 6° and 20° per 100 ft in the rotary mode, and as much as 35° per 100 ft in an oriented mode, in reaching horizontal. The radius of curvature ranges from about 160 up to 1000 feet. 5, record 1, English, - medium%20radius%20horizontal%20well
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 2 CONT
Medium-radius wells are appropriate for areas that could benefit from horizontal drilling, but where long-radius methods are either unnecessary or impractical, as would be the case when lease boundary restrictions limit the well course. They are particularly applicable for re-entry wells, reef reservoirs, fractured reservoirs and reservoirs with potential for gas or water coning. 5, record 1, English, - medium%20radius%20horizontal%20well

2, record 1, French, - puits%20horizontal%20%C3%A0%20moyen%20rayon%20de%20courbure

Shot blasting is done to bring about a good, clean surface of metal. Shot blasting machines are normally utilized in the mining industry, as well as some transporting industries. Wheelabrator structural steel shot blast cleaning systems have been designed to clean different structural shapes for before or after fabrication. They are also commonly used in the foundry industry. 1, record 6, English, - shot%20blasting%20machine

wheelaborator.... The [castings] are tumbled about in a cabinet on a horizontal belt and at the same time are subjected to bombardment by a stream of metal shot. This latter is maintained by feeding the shot on to the blades of an impeller. The shot are then projected centrifugally at high speed on to the castings. This method is more economical and admits of better control of the abrasive than is possible using air jets. The moving belt must, of course, be well covered with parts to be cleaned, and the impeller blades should preferably be of some hard metal such as high-silicon iron. 3, record 6, English, - shot%20blasting%20machine

1, record 6, French, - grenailleuse%20%C3%A0%20turbine%20centrifuge

Gyroscopes can be used as devices for direction finding, guidance, and control. If a gyroscope, mounted on its gimbal rings, is set spinning about a horizontal axis, and the outer gimbal ring is rotated in a horizontal plane, then the inner gimbal ring, carrying the flywheel, tilts up out of the horizontal plane in which it, too first lay. After a few oscillations, damped out by friction, the axis of spin of the gyroscope settles down along a vertical direction. Inertial guidance systems make use of very similar phenomena. Once a gyroscope has been set spinning about a chosen axis, any motion that would cause it to deviate from this direction calls into existence a torque that can be used as an error signal to control corrective maneuvers... Some of the most important applications of gyroscopic phenomena are in aircraft instruments. A free(perfectly balanced) gyroscope can give a constant indication of a chosen reference direction for checking the correct course, and a gravitationally loaded gyroscope can be used to identify the true vertical at all times and so define an artificial horizon against which the pilot can measure the angles of bank and climb. 2, record 11, English, - gyroscopic%20phenomenon

2, record 11, French, - ph%C3%A9nom%C3%A8ne%20gyroscopique

The HSI, or Horizontal Navigation Indicator or Pictorial Navigation Indicator, is perhaps one of the most useful although misunderstood instruments around... it combines your directional gyro and Nav indicator into one instrument that reduces pilot workload by providing heading, course reference, course deviation and glide slope information all in one visual aid... You may also consider a slaved HSI. Slaving automatically compensates for gyro heading errors and keeps your HSI in agreement with your compass. It uses a magnetic flux sensor mounted in the wing or tail of your aircraft to sense changes in magnetic heading and sends corrective signals to your HSI. 2, record 13, English, - directional%20heading

"wheelaborator" : A machine used for cleaning castings. The latter are tumbled about in a cabinet on a horizontal belt and at the same time are subjected to bombardment by a stream of metal shot. 3, record 25, English, - wheelabrating

The term reinforcing is used basically to mean tension or membrane reinforcing, that is, the ability to distribute a concentrated load over a larger area of the subgrade, thus avoiding local overloading of the bearing capacity. A closer analysis of the reinforcing function of a geotextile laid between the base course and the subgrade, reveals that in addition to membrane reinforcing there is a second phenomenon which improves the load bearing capacity of the structure by providing horizontal reinforcing or lateral restraint. Because of this the geotextile works against horizontal deformation where it is in contact with the base and subgrade. 1, record 28, English, - reinforcing%20function
