HORIZONTAL DIP [21 records]

Record 1 2023-03-22

English

Subject field(s)
  • Physical Fitness Training and Bodybuilding
DEF

A bodybuilding exercise performed by completing the following movements: using two flat benches set parallel to each other, support your body with your heels on one bench and your hands on the other, in some sort of bridge between the two benches. Keeping the legs straight, lower your body as much as possible, bending only your arms. Raise your body back to the starting position.

OBS

This exercise targets the triceps, the pectorals and, to a lesser extent, the deltoids.

OBS

The terms "bench dip" and "triceps dip" can also refer to this exercise when it is done with only one bench (with the feet resting on the floor). In French, however, the same term can not be used in both cases. Therefore, a different record has been created.

OBS

The term "triceps dip" can also refer to a regular dip performed on parallel bars.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Conditionnement physique et culturisme
DEF

A bodybuilding exercise performed by completing the following movements: support your body with your hands on the edge of a bench and your heels on the floor. Keeping your legs straight, lower your body as much as possible, bending only your arms. Raise your body back to the starting position.

OBS

This exercise targets the triceps, the pectorals and, to a lesser extent, the deltoids.

OBS

The terms "bench dip" and "triceps dip" can also refer to this exercise when it is done with two benches (with the feet resting on the second bench). In French, however, the same term can not be used in both cases. Therefore, a different record has been created.

OBS

Subject field(s)
  • Aircraft Airframe
CONT

The aircraft sustained damage to its right wing, right landing gear leg, and horizontal stabilizer.

CONT

A dihedral wing is producing equal lift on the port and the starboard wing in straight and level flight. If the starboard wing dips, it's vertical lift component will begin to increase and it's horizontal lift component will begin to decrease until the wing is parallel to the flow(trigonometry and the lift force components on your wing) and at the same time the vertical lift component on the port wing will decrease. This makes the starboard wing rise and the port wing dip until it reaches it's equilibrium position(hopefully, level and straight).

PHR

PHR

Mais ce qui est tout à fait certain, c'est que la traînée de l'aile droite augmente énormément et tend à retenir l'aile pour faire tourner l'avion à droite.

Subject field(s)
  • Tectonics
CONT

The early structural history of the basin, from the deposition and/or emplacement of the oldest rocks, is poorly understood. The earliest rocks are difficult to study because the Lower Phanerozoic and Precambrian rocks are not exposed at the surface in North Dakota and only a few wells have penetrated these rocks.

OBS

The most obvious thing to do when trying to decipher the structural history of a formation is to describe it. One way of doing this is to measure the dip and strike. The dip is the amount a bed of rock is tipped from the horizontal. The strike is the direction which is ninety degrees from the dip, i. e. along the horizontal line on the bed.

Rotating apparatus.... introduced... by Charles Garnier.... It consists of a fixed vertical drum, inside of which perforated metal drums containing the blossoms revolve on a horizontal axle. They continually dip into the boiling water at the bottom of the apparatus and the flowers are rapidly exhausted.

CONT

... Garnier invented a rotatory extraction apparatus .... Rotary extractor, Garnier type. The latest model consists of a heavily tinned iron drum rotating around a horizontal axle. Four perforated metal partitions, rectangularly and horizontally arranged around the central axle, divide the interior into four compartments into which the flowers are charged through four manholes. While the whole system rotates slowly, the flower material moves, tumbles and dips into the solvent lying on the bottom of the extractor. The liquid seeps through the perforations and drips back to the bottom when one compartment is lifted out of the solvent in the continuous movement of the whole drum.
